Turn Background Music OFF!!!?
[Post New]
Anyone got a clue how to neuter the Background music in Create Disc?

I've clicked the Remove background music button forty thousand times and it keeps coming back on for some stupid reason!

Hi there,

Do you want the background music not to load when the create disc menu is loaded? Or is your problem that you cannot turn it off at all?

If you do not want it to load at all there is a method.
Warning
You tamper with the system files at your own risk.
As far as I know, but I am not an expert, the set up for menu files is held for each menu (including your own custom menus) in separate sets of files. the xml files within each menu set hold the specific set up. The audio xml file can be modified with an xml editor and the associated lines replaced/removed.

This means that, for example, say the default template loaded is usually template 1 - with the lovely christmas.mp3. If the audio xml file for this template is modified and the approriate code lines removed, then there is no background music selected or offered at load up.

However, as soon as you choose a different menu template, the music associated with that one is offered. You could of course alter all the menus if that is required.

Personally, unless its essential I wouldn't bother. It would seem like a lot of effort and the results cannot be guaranteed.

If you can't turn it off, I don't know, sorry.

Cheers

I've edited one of the templates and saved it as a custom template without audio background music so it SHOULD retain this info but it doesn't.

OK,
As I've said I'm not an expert but what I think happens is this :-

The background music for a template is set by default.

When a menu is edited in Modify and then saved, this does not alter the default sound track, as there is nowhere in the menu designer to deal with audio (I think I'm right here).

The ability to turn the background music on/off in author/preview seems to be just that, it is not 'saved' as part of the modified menu.

I have altered a menu to remove the background music and when it loads it has no music, but in author/preview mode whatever track was last there remains until it is switched off.

I have found no other means of getting a 'saved' menu with no music except by editing the appropriate xml file.

Simple xml editing is relatively straightforward but I wouldn't recommend it unless you work on copy files or test files first just in case.......
PM me if you want more details and to live in the fast lane.

Cheers
Adrian

I've come to the conclusion it's the Create Disc editor, scorned by many here in forum.
