NO, it was the top of the range multi region in its day but yes its time to look at an upgrade for sure
Yep, you guys are right, the DVD player is too old, it's a high end one but from many years back, hmmm maybe santa needs to drop one in....thanks guys for your help....merry Christmas
Quote: I just played a dvd from the menu using wmp in win7 and again with vlc from the menu, not from the vob files. Maybe the menu is the problem. Do you have the PD13 trial installed at any time. See this link for the answer: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/41937.page ...

Hey tomas, No unfortunately I did play from the menu also and it works, every 5 to 10 minutes the DVD glitches, I manged to get a workaround of pausing the dvd then unpausing and it continues.....arrghhhh

There are no physical artefacts at all which is the frustraiting bit, it will make a screetch and then freeze, I hit pause, then pause again and it continues, to places in the DVD the audio stops also but the pause and unpause it works again, very frustraiting!!!
Oh boy, ok used imgburn, plays perfectly via the vob files, iso plays perfectly in VLC, continues to stop at 10 se in my DVD player.....arrghhhhh
Ok awesome guys, on the case, thanks a ton and will report back
HI guys,

OK THIS IS URGENT - This DVD for my wife of our last 15 years together has been a labour of love over a long time, finally I have it completed for a Chrissy Pressy for her.

OK, so the DISC settings I use are a custom menu with playback mode selected to start from the first title and play all files sequentially, there is only 1 video for the disc, I selected DVD-Video 16:9, Smart fit 2D disc, it plays fine for the first 10 secs then freezes?

I have rendered to an .MP4 and it plays perfectly.

Guys please help as I have to get this finished today (arrghhhh)

Thanks in advance
DELETE LAST POST - False Alarm, Issue is still occurring, makes no difference with short filenames!

I have passed everything onto CyberLink to deal with. I doubt you'd get this bug fixed until maybe the next beta release or later. You may want to consider restoring to before the beta patch - uninstall/reinstall of PDR13.
Dafydd

Thanks mate very much.......

** UPDATE **

I have a stupid suspicion this may be related to media filename length, I tried another group of avi's (see pic) the filenames were created by me, that was an intro I did and I renamed all the files, so I dragged them all into the timeline (28 avi's) 75GB worth, and this is actually the reopened project file.

I did save the project on the desktop and I saved it by typing in "a.pds" yes I typed the whole .pds also. I reopened the project and as you can see they work, and the only difference is that the filenames are shorter.

Just a though, but thanks guys for your help
Quote: Basically you've located a beta bug. Please can you provide the MediaInfo on an avi - the info will help CL. See Part J in the guide.
All we can do on this issue is pass it along to CyberLink to deal with.
Dafydd

That's one "f"

Media info on one of the files used, thanks again Dafydd

This is the beta patch right and not the released patch? The issue should have been in the beta thread - I can see why it wasn't as I hadn't posted the beta information on the forum until 1:46 and you had the beta before that via the downloader.

Dafydd

OK, here are four images, the first is the files imported and dragged onto the timeline, the second are the files in the recording folder, 25 files and 99gb in size, the third image is the saved project. and the fourth image is the reopened project with 6 files on the timeline for the first time, the 6 files are a total of 37.7gb, now thinking there are size limitations, thanks Dafydd.
Quote: Please provide a screenshot of the edit workspace and information on where the media files are located. Any external drive is subject to local address recognition issues and sd cards should not be used to retain source project material.
Dafydd

Hi Dafydd, ok screenshot of a reopened saved project only moments ago, files in library should all obviously be ticked but all the references are 0,0,0, the second screenie is my SSD recording drive, which as you can see is N:\RECORDINGS drive. I click import media files from that directory, they all go in, I save the project, close PD reopen it and this is what I have every time.

btw its a connected SSD not external
It handles larger single long files but not lots of short ones it wont handle more than 20 files when before it was handling 50+ totalling 120gb.
Quote: The limit is 2500 total files in folders and subfolders in earlier versions for the preview area.
i wonder what the GB limit is, before i could import 120 gb fine now it wont even do 50gb footage

Quote: Hi folks,

I thought this had been fixed, ok I have updated to 2403 and I have tested dragging many videos into the timeline, saving the project, closing PD, reopening the project and bam, like the picture attached nothing is saving, all the video is 0,0,0 files. It was working fine with 2319 but now not with 2403, guys can I re-install the 2319 patch back over 2403 to restore the 2319 version?

Do not move or delete the files in a project.

Powerdirector does not save the actual file in the project. It just records pointers in the pds file to where the actual files are located.

If you have the files on removable media, copy those files to a folder on your hard drive.
Them import into Powerdirector.

NO, I am not moving them I am doing the save and reopening straight away for testing purposes, so its and issue with PD and the latest version is the worst, I wonder if anyone knows if there is a limit to how many GB od video files will be able to reopen from a saved project etc, does anyone know PDs limitations like that?

Thanks again for your reply

Well Kevin, you summed up why we spend countless hours creating that perfect collection of memories, whether it be snaps, precious video footage, that song that makes us go.....you have summed up how this awesome technology can allow us to pay dividends for the things and people that matter most, your story is the epitome of why we do what we do....thank you for sharing a snippet of your life Kevin, I felt like I was right there with you and the fellow community here rallying for your cause, thank you
I seem to be hitting a brick wall and don't know if I need to create a thread or post this as a suggestion, ok so a suggestion for scratch disks for PD as I experience black video files on my timeline after saving the project and reopening them, every time I go over 50 video files dropped into the timeline or when I hit 200GB+ of footage on the timeline. I can work great when I edit but if I save the project and reopen it, all the video files on the timeline appear black and with 0,0,0 so don't know if there is a limitation of PD with file sizes and amounts of video files on the timeline but if there is can scratch disks be created etc to handle the issue?
Your other option is to have a usb stck or portable hard drive etc so you can play it from a file directly not from a disc that way you can produce a high bitrate video file and play that file on the night forget the dvd option hope the night is a blast mate
Sorry guys, ok I found exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
