Hi guys,

Hope this is not a stupid question, is there any software out there that will split my raw uncompressed avi recordings, so I basically have the good material to use. I am putting together a new intro and I need to collect footage and I dont have a ton of space to keep large files. Issue is when I import and split in PD its going to compress which ever way you look at it at producing stage, then I will be editing again the final production and that's way too much degradation for me.

So basically I am wanting a program which will split (trim) uncompressed .avi files and keep them as the same file just trimmed (if possible)

Thanks, hope this is not a big ask or a stupid question, I would like to keep the same trimmed original files for I round of editing/producing. thanks in advance guys

If you're after a "video splitter", just google the term and you'll have a choice.

Conversely where you have a group of video with the same properties (fps/frame size/type) you can stitch them together. Look up something like "mpeg stitch" or "video stitch." This type of tool is not the same as stitching still images together to create a panorama.

Both are not "real video editors" but are "editor tools" we have all used or will use at one time or another.
