Wow! That did it! It was apparently the menu open video that was the problem. Seems funny that PowerDirector doesn't give a simple mechanism for changing/deleting the built-in sound on that video. Anyhow, I removed the menu opening video and then the obnoxious music disappeared when I clicked on "remove background music" and it also disappeared when I selected a blank file with the "set background music" option.
Thanks!

I'm trying to create a very simple DVD menu (using the Create Disc tab in PowerDirector 12). I've already created the chapter headings and "produced" the movie. I'm having two problems:
1. How do I create the DVD menu so that it contains no sound of any kind? [I've independently clicked on the "Remove Background Music" button and specified the name of a silent .wma filename with the "Set Background Music" button, but in either case, obnoxious music is played when I preview the video.
2. Is there a very simple way to create a menu that has both a "play all" button and has navigation that lists the chapters, say, five at a time? I don't give a hang about background colors, button styles, or fancy pictures of hearts or flowers.
Thanks!

I am putting together various videos consisting of my old home movies (some from 60 years ago). They currently have no sound track, as the old 8 mm cameras were silent. My problem is to add a sound track from a commentary recording that my family recently made as we watched the home movies. Because of the video editing I have done, the audio recording cannot simply be laid in as a single unedited audio track.
The commentary is one long recording and needs to be chopped up into clips. Then the clips need to be placed at appropriate places on the PowerDirector audio timeline (which already has the video edited and locked in). My challenge is to figure out the best way to go about this.
In theory, I could do it in PowerDirector, but it seems cumbersome and fraught with danger of messing up the video portion (though perhaps "locking" the various video tracks would solve that part of the problem). So, I have gone to AudioDirector, placing timeline markers throughout the audio file to demarcate the the beginnings and ends of the desired audio clips.
But here I am stuck. I can't figure out a good way of extracting the clips and then porting them over as clips into PowerDirector. ("Copy" works on a clip, but, subsequently, PowerDirector won't let me "Paste" the clip onto its timeline. Also, AudioDirector doesn't seem to have a convenient option for creating clips from successive timeline markers. (Why not? Shouldn't there be a global "Create a Bunch of Files named from the Timeline Markers" command?))
So, here is my question: What is the best approach to use in extracting clips from an audio file and then making them available to PowerDirector and a PowerDirector project?
Any thoughts on this problem would be much appreciated!
