Producing Simple DVD Menus

I'm trying to create a very simple DVD menu (using the Create Disc tab in PowerDirector 12). I've already created the chapter headings and "produced" the movie. I'm having two problems:

1. How do I create the DVD menu so that it contains no sound of any kind? [I've independently clicked on the "Remove Background Music" button and specified the name of a silent .wma filename with the "Set Background Music" button, but in either case, obnoxious music is played when I preview the video.

2. Is there a very simple way to create a menu that has both a "play all" button and has navigation that lists the chapters, say, five at a time? I don't give a hang about background colors, button styles, or fancy pictures of hearts or flowers.

Thanks!

You may be choosing a menu that has a menu open video before the Root Menu shows.
That Video has its own music.
Powerdirector 12 has a check mark on the Menu Preferences Tab that will remove that opening video.

If you choose a Menu that does not have that menu open video, you can remove the background audio file and put in your silent .wma

There are some custom menus on Director Zone that do not have the preview movie (Before the Root Menu page).
There are also some custom menus that do not have motion thumbnails.

Wow! That did it! It was apparently the menu open video that was the problem. Seems funny that PowerDirector doesn't give a simple mechanism for changing/deleting the built-in sound on that video. Anyhow, I removed the menu opening video and then the obnoxious music disappeared when I clicked on "remove background music" and it also disappeared when I selected a blank file with the "set background music" option.
