Hi paradive -
I'll dive in and say what other members would maybe/probably be thinking... If I was trying generate all those rhythmic text effects that echo/reflect the accent of the music, I wouldn't be trying to do it with PowerDirector.
I'm not trying to put you off, but that's quite complex stuff & would rely on the software being able to respond to beat/rhythm & have bulk text effects.
Having said that, PDR does have a mountain of text motion effects and titles/words can be keyframed in position, scale, opacity and rotation. What's that you were saying about an inordinate amount of time?
Cheers - Tony
yeah, i'm not looking to do anything that well.
just in general... does it have plenty of text effects and whatnot?
i usually use 1 static background background image throughout the song.
(example of one of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCXQGOCbldA )
one thing i like about WLMM is i can play right to where some vocals come in, just click pause and hit ctrl+v.
a major drawback is i can't overlay text. that is, if a new vocal line begins a half second before the previous one ends, i have to cut the previous one a half second short as i can't have 2 lines appear at the same time.
|
|
my aim (hobby) is making lyric-videos.
as of now, i only use WLMM so my options are rather limited.
eventually, i wanna make em as good as this: https://youtu.be/CEjs01ibSJk
(that's an extreme example - they used a plethora of Adobe products and an inordinate amount of time, but you get my point.)
would PowerDirector be capable of the basic tenet here?
examples?
tutorials?
i got the demo.

Copying commercial videos is what I said because it illegal.
well, that's what i intended,
so if i can't get any support i'll have to find some other software.
that's partly what i was asking, i guess.

Windows Update doesn't always have the latest drivers. Check nVidia and Intel websites.
done.
they are up to date.
so i can't use the software for burning movies, you said?

Most reputable software won;t burn/copy a copyrighted disc in most countries of the world.
I'm sorry but if that is what you are trying to do, I don't think anyone will help because of the potential legal issues. Depending on the interpretation, you may not be able to copy a DVD that you own for your own needs. That will send up a flag in this discussion group.
UGH.....
i've done it about 20 times before.
just forgot what software i used and thought cyberlink might be a solution.

does ANY of it burn DVDs?
if not, is there something i could upgrade/buy that does?
You have already been told that you are postign in the wrong part of the forums. Post your question here: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/forums/show/53.page
It depends -- it is an OEM piece of software. OEM are "teaser" pieces of software that are either modified by the supplier - in your case HP or is specified by HP. They are very often limited in what they can do. What software titles came in your package.
If you have Power2Go, Power Producer or Power Diretor, then one of those shoul burn DVD. Foem your other posts, it seems that you know quite a bit about video editing and DVD making. Why are you asking rather than trying?
When I got my first piece of Cyberlink software, it was an OEM version (9 I believe). Yes, you should be able to upgrade that but sometimes outright purchase is cheaper.
Again, please specify exactly what you want to do. As you know, Windows has the ability to maker and burn video DVD and there are some free programs that will do it also.
I feel that you are NOT telling us the full story about what you really want to do. We would also need to know about your computer via posting the results of a dxdiag evaluation of your computer. Here are some guidelines:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40225.page
If you don't respond, then people will know that you are NOT serious about your postings.
simply, i want to burn DVDs.
what came bundled with my laptop is "media suite" - LabelPrint, PhotoDirector, Power2Go8, PowerDirector10, PowerDVD12 and YouCam.
but everything wants to be upgraded.
doesn't look like i can do anything til i shell out money.
that's why i'm asking.
i'm poor, and can't afford spending money unless i know i'm gonna get results.

In the first section, DxDiag previously crashed in DirectShow (Stage 1).
Make sure you have latest drivers for you Mobile nVidia GT740M.
Depending on how you have your BIOS set, update drivers for the Intel HD4600 also.
according to Windows, all drivers are up to date.
the Matrix crashes are just my silly screensaver.
yes, i'm trying to burn a Jeff Dunham DVD.

H,
It would help if you gave more information on the structure/properties of the avi video. Use MediaInfo and provide the full information. Please also provide a PC diagnostic. See guides Part B & Part J.
The information will help us, help you.

Well, PowerDirector is capable of doing that, but I guess it depends on your computer and why the free software has failed. An avi will be encoded to MPEG 2 and then burned to disc.
so after i upgrade, will "burn to disc" become ungreyed (that's the step i'm at)?
and i can't figure out how to go back and get a "play" menu button on there.
something else.......
i'm watching an avi file. it's perfect.
yet when i preview in powerdirector, it skips every minute or 2.
is this normal behavior when previewing, or will it show up on the DVD?

all the free software has failed me.
and thwe media suite bundle that came with my HP needs to be upgraded.
if i shell out for the powerdirector upgrade, will i be able to simply burn a DVD via an .avi file?

|
|
ok.
i assume those burn with pretty menu screens, etc., like Windows DVD Creator used to do?
next question: i recently bought an HP laptop with MediaSuite installed.
if i were to do the "upgrade" option within it, would i get the functionality of at least one of those, 2, or all?
|
|
is there ANY Cyberlink product that burns avi/etc. files to DVD?

It depends, what do you feel would be improvements using a different video editor alternate to WMM? What more do you want?
How computer savvy are you? How many of these do you envision doing?
What computer do you have? Post the dxdiag.exe evaluation of the computer (as a text file attachment). Part B here:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/7958.page
mostly text.
in an ideal world, i could overlay text, so some started appearing as other text is fading or whatever.
know what i mean?
i'm pretty savvy.
i currently have about 700 videos; do about 1 / week.

my hobby is making lyric-videos for songs i like (like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJLLRqnDzVk).
currently limited to Windows Live Movie Maker.
would Power Director be better/more suited for this aim?
hard to learn, etc?
