What aspect ratio is everybody using?
Here is what I've observed on YouTube.
A bit of math first:
16:9 has a ratio of 1.7777777777777
4:3 has a ratio of 1.3333333333333
I've been noticing a ratio of around 1.59999999 with major networks.
Question is:
What is the favored ratio that one should be implementing NOW to fit with future standards?
Or is it a matter of preference only?
Thank You,
RC

ARGH!
Got it
The color board goes with the VDO (Clip), and it's duration is the same as the intro title.
A short "lead in" or leader can be a good idea and I use a 3 - 8 second or so segment of black.
So are you saying you have a black 3-8 sec screen and then your title appears then your VDO clip?
I insert a white color board 5 sec
then insert a title 5 sec.
So my VDO starts with the title and goes into the movie
I know I could use an effect in between the title and movie and I might do that as I get more proficient.
I'm thinking a leader and a title is two different things.......yes?
Confession:
Just bought this camera and thought I would point and shoot and show movies.........boy was I wrong......lol
Although it is interesting and I'm determined to learn all about it.
Thanks again,
RC

Thank you,
YouTube, of course, didn't occur to me to check there.......I'll do that

Placing a color board in the VDO is not working
I'm sure there is a simple solution to this.
I can't understand why it should be so difficult to execute.
I would think placing a title at the beginning of the VDO would automatically tell the program to push the VDO forward to start at the end of the starting title.
So what is everybody doing?

Thank you for all your responses,
I'm new to the program
I'll try the test file routine and will investigate all your suggestions and get at the root of this.
Until next time

OK Folks
After shutting down everything and restarting here is what I'm NOW getting
All titles are in position
Press play:
The vdo starts hidden under the intro title.
You can hear the VDO but you see the intro title and once the intro has finished you see the VDO in a normal fashion.

Hi!
This is the second time this has happened.........after spending hours editing the file and making the changes to the original captured VDO.
The original file is around 42.6 megs so I would think the edited file should be around that number but it comes in as 105 kb.
I'm at a loss.

PD7
Got the vdo in my time line
Got the end title in position and working
Got the start title at the start of the timeline
Can't get the start title to play
&
Can't move the vdo up the time line to accommodate the intro title.
How do you get the vdo to play properly with both titles?

I have saved a file while editing for later re-editing
I can't seem to reopen that file the next day
I see the save file is only 105kb and powerdirector 7 is unable to open the file.
Any ideas what is going on?
This is the second time I've had to edit this file and save it with the same result.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my request.
I've finally solved the problem.
I called Sony and got a real live person........Sony Rocks, the reason I buy their products.
Solution:
1. The camera has to be plugged in or the battery will not provide enough power for detection.
2. The USB cable must be plugged in to the rear of the case. Apparently, the front connections don't always work although I have plugged lots of peripherals without problems......go figure.
3. Open My computer and find the file, paste it to a folder of your choice.
4. Open Power Director and click File>Import>Media File
For some reason the software will not recognize the drive
Hopes this helps someone else with the same problem.

Hi All,
New equipment:
Sony Handycam DCR SR45 Hybrid HDD - two weeks old
What is the procedure in capturing the vdo from the above camera?
I see I have dowloaded the data in a MPEG file in MyDocuments
That's as far as I'm able to go as the Director is not 'capturing' the file.
Thanks in advance.
