PD7
Got the vdo in my time line
Got the end title in position and working
Got the start title at the start of the timeline
Can't get the start title to play
&
Can't move the vdo up the time line to accommodate the intro title.

How do you get the vdo to play properly with both titles?

OK Folks

After shutting down everything and restarting here is what I'm NOW getting

All titles are in position

Press play:

The vdo starts hidden under the intro title.

You can hear the VDO but you see the intro title and once the intro has finished you see the VDO in a normal fashion.

Try putting a colour board at the front of your timeline - the intro titles should then show over the colour.

Placing a color board in the VDO is not working

I'm sure there is a simple solution to this.

I can't understand why it should be so difficult to execute.

I would think placing a title at the beginning of the VDO would automatically tell the program to push the VDO forward to start at the end of the starting title.

So what is everybody doing?

Hi Scope,

Exactly what Robert (WA) suggested.

Scope you need to go to Cyberlink's Youtube channel and have a look at all the tutorial videos there to help get you more familiar with PD.
A lot of very useful info and tips there.

Good Luck!

The title will always be superimposed over something - video, image, colour board - on the Master Video track of your timeline. You cannot have an empty space at the front of that track, hence the use of a colour board if you want your titles out of the way before the real action starts.

Scope:

By "VDO" I assume you mean video clip(s), right?

Here's a "trick" I picked up when I first started video editing years back.

A short "lead in" or leader can be a good idea and I use a 3 - 8 second or so segment of black. One editor makes you create a blank full screen title but Power Director gives us convenient "color boards". I "grab" black and on the timeline drag the end until I have desired length.

Then, if I have an intro screen I want to use I put that on the timeline after the "leader". This can be a graphic you've done in Photoshop with logo and such, or a still photo with your intro done as a title on the title track below, or a motion video clip (I have a motion background graphic of rotating film reel on the left and motion picture film sliding from the rear to the front of the frame) that you can then put a title over in the same manner.

But that short "leader" at the beginning can sure get things started off right.

ARGH!

Got it

The color board goes with the VDO (Clip), and it's duration is the same as the intro title.

A short "lead in" or leader can be a good idea and I use a 3 - 8 second or so segment of black.

So are you saying you have a black 3-8 sec screen and then your title appears then your VDO clip?

I insert a white color board 5 sec
then insert a title 5 sec.
So my VDO starts with the title and goes into the movie
I know I could use an effect in between the title and movie and I might do that as I get more proficient.

I'm thinking a leader and a title is two different things.......yes?

Confession:

Just bought this camera and thought I would point and shoot and show movies.........boy was I wrong......lol

Although it is interesting and I'm determined to learn all about it.

Thanks again,

RC
