Are you feeding the projector from your computer ? Using the space bar on the computer can stop and start your timeline.
it looks like the fade transition works better for me. thanks
another question about cross fade. It looks like to me that it zooms in and out during the transition. Are there other cross fades that keep the same size but just cross and not zoom in and out? Maybe available to be bought or gotten otherwise?
thanks
I like to be able to quickly jump from clip to clip and also know that I am exactly at that clip intersection. I now have to drag the pointer to each clip but it is not exactly at that split.
Keeping cross fade in cross fade mode works and doesn't alter my timeline and throw me out of synch with my imported audio track. I also noticed in prefs/editing that I can check mark "switch to movie mode automatically during playback" which makes more sense to me.
Thanks for that. I'll try it in the morning. There wasn't a link for the tutorial but I should be able to get 'er done
I did not see that before so now I know to click on movie every time is add a transition. Rather cumbersome I be thinking..
I added some transitions and it threw me out of synch between the audio track and the video. What's up with that? Seems like the cross fade adds time to the video. That's no good is there any way to add cross fade without it throwing me out of synch?
Thanks
I am putting a cross fade in between two clips and it goes in there but when I play it back it stops and jumps back to the start of the clip. why wont it keep playing through so I can see if I want it or to see if I want to make it longer? Why does it just stop and not keep playing through?
how do I make a fade longer if I want it longer?
thanks
trying to send a picture of how the multi cam editor has put my files on different timelines
Hey Toot... I am making a music video that is about an hour long. My Sony camcorders cut the files in segments when it saves the video to the SD Card. When I have them in multicam view and do audio with my music track it puts each segment on a different track so I cant figure out how to do what you did in your tutorial in this video ( http://youtu.be/8DtJDjjq8nA ) if I try to put them all in track they go out of synch.
any ideas?
Toot !!! Perfect!!! Now that is what I can really use. I usually do 3 camera shoots and a separate edited audio track and then once I synch them ( which can take hours) I can begin to edit them. I didn't want to do cuts only like in multi-cam as I often over lap some of the video tracks for effect and doing cuts only wouldn't work that way for me. I also like that way that you put all four tracks in the monitor to see which one you want to use. I usually had to make the upper two tracks opaque to see which one I want to cut out. These features are why I bought the PD12 suite and probably won't use PreEl anymore.
If you have done anymore with this like showing how you cut out unwanted parts or make the parts that you do want to stay in, please let me and all of know.
Way to go Toot !!!
Thanks
how did you line up the two tracks?
I am working on learning the multi cam editing thing. you could have put the audio and video tracks in the multi cam mode and used the audio analysis from either source to synch them.
I have 3 video tracks and one audio track from an edirol 44 that I have been able to synch all video tracks to. That part is working fine. Where I go from there will be a learning curve...
Ill just keep asking questions as I go along to see if anyone can help with any of my questions.
In Premiere I could right click on anything in a timeline and then cut or clear that item. I don't see how to clear anything that I don't want while in MCM. I tried to cut one thing by clicking on the little lines next to camera but I got rid of the wrong clip and now I cant get it back... anyone know how to do that?
Well, this time when I highlighted the tracks they came in to multi-cam editor ...
wish list:
I wish I could mute audio on video tracks like I can in edit mode
I wish I could rename tracks in MCM
learn how to extend some video on one track to blend with another track once I have my edits done. I like seeing two video tracks at the same time sometimes for a cool effect. (see some of my videos on YouTube as genegenedtb to see what I do)
Thanks all
I have 2 video tracks and one audio track in edit mode in PD12. I now want to go to multi-cam mode ( MCM) to synch them and edit them that way but when I switch from edit to MCM the tracks disappear and I have four blank windows and it now wants me to import media in to MCM... why do I have to import my media all over again? The media has a green check mark next to them showing that they are in the timeline. I tried to select all the media to see if they would then show up in MCM but they do not.
also, how do I rename tracks? it would be easier to know which camera I am going to by knowing whose camera I am cutting to.
Thanks
have you tried the audio analysis?
I do a lot of music videos and it takes some doing to align the video to a separate audio track.
I just bought PD12 to see if it works for me. I have been using Adobe Premiere 10. What I do there is to click on the audio track that is in the video and make it large and do the same with the separate audio track. I then expand the time line so that both audio tracks can be seen better. I then try to see if I can find a place in the video where someone is making a movement that has sound too and try to get the separate audio in line with that, eg someone raises their hand and you can hear the song on the video audio and find a spot on the separate audio where you get that same sound. In Premiere I could highlight a track and hold doen the alt key and tap on the arrow keys to move that track one frame at a time. it takes some doing you can get almost frame accurate. So far in PD12 I see where you can put a time line marker on that hand raising and one where you think the serarate audio is at and then go up to audio analysis and align by menu markers.
this is a rough idea and I hope it may help until someone here can help you more.
good luck and let me know it any of this makes enough sense to help and we can go from there.
Roger that on the 64 bit OS
To Jamon 47:
That sounds pretty good. can you play the videos on the time line while editing without them stuttering? Trouble is I do mostly 2 and 3 camera HD shoots with Sony camcorders like yours and that does tax my system now and once I add some transitions it really slows down. Thanks for the feedback and info.
I'm thinking of getting or building a new computer especially for video editing using PD12 Ultimate. Any suggestions on specs especially video cards, motherboards, and CPU's? The one I have now is adequate for using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 & 11 but I just bought PD12U so I want to optimize for it. I have had problems with Nvidia drivers as I have seen the many people have had so I wonder if I should stay away from Nvidia.
Thanks in advance and let the games begin
Thanks very much for the info and the links. the 2nd one from PDToots shows one way to do what I want. Just having the ability to get 4 tracks closely lined up is so much easier than trying to do it manually as I have been doing. I ordered PD12U and can't wait for it to get here to start using it. I am glad that someone as yourself is on this forum to help out.
Thanks again
I love the idea of multi cam editing as that is what I do most of the time. this feature looks like it is cuts once recorded to the timeline. some of the time I like to blend two of my video tracks over each other for a while. is there some way to do this using the multi cam editor? eg. once I have all the cuts on the time line could I then be able to take one of them and move to another video track and use more of it to blend in with the other track of video ( if you know what I am trying to describe)
thanks
