thanks for the link. got it.
Initially when I try to find the manual, all I could find was ver 8.
The cyberlink site isnt the most user friendly I think. Still, I will get use to it no doubt
is there a comprehensive user guide for PW 9 ultra I can download? Can only find one for version 8. As I am new to PW I understand that there are infact differences between version 8 and 9 so i would like to have a comprehensive guide. Probably in PDf form?

Yes, I had tried this as soon as I had the explanation from Nicolas. I immediately looked to see if I could use 4:3 in 16:9 etc. it works as described, which is why i think Cyberlink screwed up a bit. the hiding of the effects in different aspect ratios doesnt actually have a real positive value, however it is a minor point. this works perfectly as is.

thanks all.
thanks Nicolas, that was the answer. They were indeed hidden. This doesnt actually make much sense. It looks like one of those ideas one step too far. It would have been better if the effects where all shown but with an aspect indicator as indeed they are on the download page. I am new to PD so will have to learn their little querks
thanks all for responding to promptly.

this is one of the most effective forums I have dealt with.

Windows 7 pro 64bit pd9 ultra

i have downloaded some particle effects: double clicked: message that they are now available to PD OK.
however they arent there in PD. three that i downloaded two days ago, are there.
I cant find any posts about this. If there are please redirect.
I am downloading to a data drive, not same as program drive.
(shouldnt make a difference)

thanks

thanks Kevin and Jerrys. I tried it and got it.
Thanks all for the support. i wil ldownload all examples and have a go at this.

much obliged.
yes, i found the modify thingy but it doesnt do what I want. I guess the best way I can describe it would be if the particle effect had 'grab handles' so I could simply scale the whole effect and limit it to a part of the screen. the modify and designer screens do not seem to allow me to do this ?
But then i might be missing something ?
I hope this is a good place to ask. Am new to PD in general. running pd9 ultra now. I was wondering if it is possible to resize a particle object to part of the screen. Maybe an example which simplistically explains what i mean;
imagine a video with someone holding out their hand. could I resize for example the STARS particle object to appear only on the hand?

(Hope this makes sense)
If this isn ot the place to aks then my apologies and kindly redirect me please.
I have just installed director 9 after some extensive trials and am quite impressed. however the wave editor is in my opinion the least impressive. Maybe its because I am use to the wave editor in Nero 9 suite. If you have access to this then I recommend it. I find it more comprehensive. The Cyberlink wave editor is OK for a quick single track edit but hasnt the depth of the Nero one.
I like power director 9 though although the download was unbelievably slow.
