OK. It does not work on WinXP !
Does PowerDirector 13 support WinXP ? Some sites say yes while others say no.
I am trying to capture from Sattelite STB with a widescreen format. I do not wish to process the movie again. However the captured movie is in the 4:3 format. Is there a way other than to process the movie again to get widescreen.
Quote: Hi Coral,
Appears to me the incoming signal is a compressed analogue (4:3, that can be stretched to 16:9 later) and PDR is displaying the correct frame size during capture.

The display can be altered after capture, in the library room and fixed in the track.

It appears that the problem lies with the display AR. since the picture is being stretched vertically.

Thanks again. I guess there isn't anyting I can do about it. If I have to capture with PD I will have to watch a preview with the wrong aspect ratio.
Thanks James1 for your interest. I am capturing from an analog source (Sat. receiver) set for 16:9 output.
My capture hardware is Compro VideoMate C500 on one PC and ATI A-I-W Radeon 9600 on the other PC.
My other application which is Pinacle Studio 12.1 displays the correct 16:9 AR in the capture window.
I am trying to capture in widescreen. However although I have set the application for 16:9, the preview picture is displayed as 4:3 and streached vertically.
Is there a solution to correct this ?
I am asking because I can do it on the VLC player. The VLC player setting are stored in the hidden Application Data folder. I just save the folder and if I have to uninstall the player, I just put the folder back and all the settings are restored.
Quote: How do You know they are out of sync?

Very easy: The subtitles are not showing during the dialogue.
When I play a MPEG 2 movie which has srt subtitles, the subtitles are always out of synchronization. This does'nt happen on avi movies.
Is it possible to have an icon for frame capture on the tool bar ?
Is it possible to change the splash screen on PDVD 11 ?
Is it possible to save the settings so if I have to uninstall PDVD 11, I would be able to have a file which I would be able to keep and put back ?

Thanks for any help.

What is your method of getting the video from your Satellite receiver to Powerdirector?

If you are using the Capture Module in Powerdirector, until Cyberlink makes changes, the Capture Module only captures in 4:3 ratio and in SD.

There are Capture Devices that can capture HD video (16:9) from a Satellite Receiver.

I have the Compro C 500. Not an expencive card but it does a fine job for it's price . I had much more expencive cards which gave me problems. Works great with Studio 12.1 in any format. I didn't know that the capture module in PD captures only in 4:3 ratio. That's not good at all.
Quote: If you can't find a way to force capture at 16:9, you can tell PowerDirector what the aspect ratio of the clip is once you put the clip in the timeline. Right-click on the clip and then select the aspect ratio menu item from the pop-up menu. Finally select the 16:9 ratio option.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, That's one way of doing it. However that will take time to render. Idealy it would be best to disable auto detection.
