I am trying to capture in widescreen. However although I have set the application for 16:9, the preview picture is displayed as 4:3 and streached vertically.
Is there a solution to correct this ?

Hi,
It would help us if you explained a little more of what your are trying to capture, and with what you are capturing with. There are numerous capture devices and software out there.

Thanks James1 for your interest. I am capturing from an analog source (Sat. receiver) set for 16:9 output.
My capture hardware is Compro VideoMate C500 on one PC and ATI A-I-W Radeon 9600 on the other PC.
My other application which is Pinacle Studio 12.1 displays the correct 16:9 AR in the capture window.

Hi,
I use a different capture program FastOne and it has the ability to define capture area, altho' I don't capture from within PD...just thought I'd try and help.

Thanks again. I guess there isn't anyting I can do about it. If I have to capture with PD I will have to watch a preview with the wrong aspect ratio.

Hi Coral,
Appears to me the incoming signal is a compressed analogue (4:3, that can be stretched to 16:9 later) and PDR is displaying the correct frame size during capture.

The display can be altered after capture, in the library room and fixed in the track.

It appears that the problem lies with the display AR. since the picture is being stretched vertically.
