I'm trying to take my .pds file and produce a Quicktime .mov file. The video is being converted correctly. However, the original audio from the recorded video and the audio track I created in the .pds file is not being put in the .mov file. The .mov has no sound at all. Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
I tried to burn my first dvd with PowerDirector 11 Ultra. There is a lot of pixelating on the disc. I have a brand new LG MODISC DVD-RW. Can I assume the problem is with the disc media (I'm trying to burn to a Memorex DVC-R)? Or could it be the burn preferences I have set in PowerDirector? I have set the recording speed to 24.0 and have checked the box Include buffer under-run protection. The boxes Enable x.v.Color and Enable hardware video encoder are not available to be checked.

I would prefer to not keep trying disc after disc until I get one that doesn't have a lot of pixelating. Does anyone have any hints to make this burn process easier?
I totally agree.

I'm a retired computer programmer and if I had ever produced such terrible code as exists in the Menu subprogram I would have never lasted the 25 years in the industry.
Quote: Just a quick question. Do you know of any commercial discs that have a long repeat time like you are asking for?

Perhaps there is another way around what you want. How many people want to sit and look at a static screen for almost a minute and a half before getting to the good stuff.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Haven't you ever put a commercial dvd in to watch and while you're on a menu screen had to answer the phone, use the restroom, or maybe get a snack before you make a choice from the menu? I'm just providing a small bit of music that will loop while the viewer is on the menu screen and can't make a choice yet. Normally I know most people will make a choice within 5-10 seconds but just in case I want to provide a small bit of music while maybe they need to do something else prior to watching the dvd.

Hi there -

No - you're not the only one with the problem, and it's been around for a long time & No - you're not doing anything wrong.

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/24550.page

In the Root Menu page, you can control the duration of the background music (up to 99 seconds). The Chapter/Scenes page does not allow that control.

Whilst I completely agree that it ought to be user controlled, in PD it's not. It's probably part of the reason many users opt to do their disc creation in other software.

Cheers - Tony

Could you suggest a separate disc creation software possibilities? I would really appreciate it.

This process in PD has become very frustrating to me. Edit process in PD was fine but I now have been spending the last 3 weeks fighting with their create disc function in PD to get it to do how I want my disc created.

Thanks
Quote: Hi,
the default duration is 15 seconds I believe as stated in previous post, buut you have to change for each page (root, and chapters/titles) page, if you have more than 4 chapters per page then all the chapters/titles pages have to be changed.
JIm
p.s. I am not an authority on sound as I have a hearing impairement.

As you can see from my attached screen prints I have changed the duration on all pages.

Print Screen 8.png shows my Root Menu page and the duration is set to 86 seconds - this works.

Print Screen 9.png shows my only Title/Chapter Menu page and the duration is set to 86 seconds - this doesn't work I still get the default 15 seconds.
Am I the only one who has ever had this problem? If not, then I must be doing something wrong. To me a menu page is a menu page, whether it is the root or the title/chapter page.
Quote: From the help menu:
Setting Background Music

If you are using background music in your disc menu, click the button to perform the following functions:

Note: the final duration of your disc menu's background music is dependent on the time entered in the Duration field in the Playback Mode Settings window, not the length of the music file used. See Setting Disc Playback Mode for more information on setting your menu's duration.

· click the button to add or replace the current disc menu background music.

· if required, trim the background music using the player controls and the mark-in/mark-out indicators.

· if required, set the menu music to gradually Fade-in or Fade-out.

· if the length of your menu music file is not as long as the specified duration, select the Auto repeat option to loop it.

When you are done setting the background music options, click Apply to All Pages to set the music for all the pages in the disc menu, or Apply to set it just for the current menu page you are viewing in the disc menu preview window.

Ok, I edited a piece of music I want for my menu background music down to 86 seconds, changed the duration to 86 seconds and clicked on Apply to All Pages.

Still have a problem - The Root Menu plays the music for 86 seconds which is correct. The Title/Chapter Menus only play the music for 15 seconds. Why? I clicked on the Apply to All Pages why didn't it apply it to the Title/Chapter Menus?

Attached is a print screen showing the duration value that I supposedly applied to all pages.

Quote: Hi,
Could you post a screen shot of the preview window, it would give a better idea what you have. From what you have described you can only edit one item at a time.
Now I am not sure how you created the button, but PD when you add 'Buttons' and have 4 chapters the button you applied is the same for all chapters..you can't mix button styles.
Jim

As you can see from the first print screen attachment, I have 1 chapter shown in the layout I want for each button on the Title/Chapter menu. I want to duplicate this button on this screen 4 times so all 5 chapters from my video are accessible from this menu. On the second print screen you can see I have selected both the thumbnail & the text then clicked on the Edit drop down menu at the top of the screen and the Copy function is greyed out and not available for use.
First let me say I really appreciate all of the help I have received from everyone while I try to learn how to do things in PowerDirector.

I have another question.

On the Titles/Chapters Menu screen - I added a button and changed the default layout of the thumbnail and text by resizing the thumbnail and placing it in front of the text. I also changed the font type, face, shadow of the text. Now I want to create 4 more buttons that look exactly like the first one.

I selected the thumbnail and text together, went to the Edit tab at the top of the screen and tried to Copy the selected items but that function was greyed out. Am I doing something wrong? All I want is to make sure I have 5 buttons that look exactly alike. It seems to me that I should be able to duplicate items and not have to do the same resizing, font type, font face, and font shadowing changes 5 times.

Please help.
During Create Disc I added my own music to be played during the display of the menu. The song is 5 minutes & 16 seconds long. When I preview my video only 15 seconds of the song is played before it loops around back to the beginning of the song. As you can see from my print screen all the settings say 5:16. Why won't it play the entire 5:16 then loop back to the beginning?
Thanks, I was able to attach 3 .png files.
1. Project ready for menu
2. Went out to Create Disc
3. Clicked on Menu Preferences which brought up Menu Desiger default template with the Root Menu showing.
4. I want to delete Item 3, so I selected it (see print screen 1)
5. How the heck do I delete it? I tried the Delete key, that didn’t work. I went to the Edit Menu and tried Cut and Remove and neither one of them deleted the highlighted item.
6. Not being able to accomplish anything on the Root Menu I went to the Titles/Chapters Menu (see print screen 2).
7. I don’t want Item 1 to have anything but the name of my chapter and I want the text to be what gets highlighted when selecting a chapter to go directly to, so I tried to delete the little window with the picture of the bicyclist in it by selecting it (see print screen 3) and pressing the Delete key and trying the Edit menu’s Cut or Remove and once again nothing happens. So I previewed my video with the little picture and that is what gets highlighted when scrolling through the menu choices. That isn't what I want. I want the chapter text to be highlighted and don't want a picture of the beginning of the chapter. I used to use Pinnacle Studio and I was able to do just what I wanted but can't seem to figure out how to do it in PowerDirector.
8. I’m getting very frustrated. I want to create my own menu template from scratch and am finding it nearly impossible to do. Can someone please help me by showing me the steps that are involved to creating my own menu or maybe there is some tutorial somewhere that could help me.

Here is my system information:
• Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
• PowerDirector 11.0.0.2516
• SR – VDE130107-01
• PowerDirector 10 is also installed on this computer
• Virus source – Microsoft Security Essentials

I tried to post my first topic for this forum and was unsuccessful. I had a post with one Word document attachment that contained print screens. I hit the submit button and waited 30 minutes and nothing happened. The submit button changed to saving. This lasted for 30 minutes before I gave up and shut down my Firefox browser. What did I do wrong?
When creating a picture in Photoshop to be used in my video, what is the best pixel resolution to set for the image?
