Robert,

Thanks for that. However, I read all the thread twice and while there was mention of menus I couldn't find anything about them occurring at the end of the movie.

That said, I imagine I created the movie/slideshow, then the titles, then the file, then the menu, then burnt it - twice - with the same end result (pun intended). Abrakadabra! Menu at the end of the movie. I hardly want to invest any more time in achieving the same unsatisfactory result, rather hoping I can get a solution first.

During all of this I must add that the programme closes down from time to time. I am beginning to get a bit edgey.

Phil
Ok so I have 500 holiday photo images in the library and a bunch of them need to be rotated prior to adding to the timeline to make a slideshow.

After doing about 8 to 10 it gives up. I thought, you won't get me that way - I'll just close down, log off, log on, restart PD7 and continue rotating where I left off. So I repeated this drawn out operation several times before I got all the snaps rotated but you can see that the hesitant jerky motion is only going to last for a few more photos.

While going through this very lengthy process I did find out that if you choose to edit the photo it appears in the edit window the correct way up! And if you change it and save it it goes back in the library the correct way up and next to the original (which is still on its side of course). But of course using this way to rotate your many images is just a little, shall we say, tedious.

Is there a problem here?

Should I rotate the photos before I transfer them into the library?

Thanks,

Phil.
Ok so I managed to get the menu at the end of the movie - twice!

Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Phil
Dafydd,
Unfortunately I didn't read your message in time to delete trial version before downloading the full version. However, I did notice it recognised and deleted the trial version before installing the full all by itself.
All went very smoothly, thanks.

Phil.
Hi Daffyd,

I have just received the go-ahead to download my purchased full version PD7 Ultra so that part of it is ok.

This was the full reply to my earlier concern with the trial version stopping early -

"Thank you for contacting CyberLink Online Support.

We understand your concern related with trial of PoweDirector 7.0 software.

We sincerely apologize for any trouble you have encountered so far.

Please note that as, for some reason, you get an expiration message prior to the 30 days, this is most likely caused by the date on your PC has been reset or because you have previously installed the trial software.

If you have not done anything mentioned above, then, there are three suggestions that you may follow to resolve the issue:

1) Check to see if you already have any PowerDirector software on your system (maybe older versions). If you do then please uninstall it before you try to install the new trial pack.

NOTE:- There is no issue with other CyberLink softwares installed on your computer.

2) Search the registry for any PowerDirector entries as conflict can be removed by deleting all the PowerDirector entries from the registry. To do that you need to follow the following steps:

i) Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Run --> type "regedit"

ii) From the edit menu select the 'Find' option and enter 'PowerDirector'. Hit the Find button.

iii) Delete all the entries that the find option highlights. Please do this carefully so that you do not delete any other entry by mistake.

Try to re-install the 'Trial version' again.

3) The next step (if the previous one is in-efficient) is to download a fresh copy of the the trial software from the CyberLink web-site.

If the above methods do not work then there is no way to reinstall trial version on this computer. Please try the software on some other computer.

At this point of time we suggest you to purchase the full version of PowerDirector 7.0 software and test it on your system. If you do not like the software or software does not perform according to your expectations, then you can return the software as a 30 day return policy is associated with any software purchased from Cyberlink's website, i.e. www.cyberlink.com.

Please follow the link given below to purchase online :

We deeply regret for the inconvenience caused.

Please feel free to contact us back for any further clarification or for any assistance related to CyberLink Products.

Thank You and Best Regards." - End Quote.

I got as far as 2 ii) and a list of 4 items showed up with ONE ONLY highlighted in blue. They said to delete this but I am scared stiff to do that. They give no reason why I should. Also, did they mean just that ONE item or do they really mean all FOUR? It is impossible to tell.

Then it says "Try to re-install the 'Trial version' again. " I say "HOW?" Does it mean downloading the trial version again? No, because that is what they next suggest in 3! Why can't they explain properly?

It seems very clear to me that the Pinnacle on line 'chat with a tech' is far more effective. Waiting two days or so for a reply is not a very good outcome. Here in Australia you can even phone somebody for assistance.

Thanks for your assistance even though I have now bought the full version and am about to download very soon now.

Regards,

Phil.

My 30 day trial expired on the same day, June 1. Surprise, surprise!
I asked did all trials expire on June 1?
I bought my computer on May 8 and downloaded trial on about May 11 or 12 and informed Cyberlink of same.
They asked me if I had changed the computer clock or previously downloaded any trial Cyberlink before.
This question seemed to suggest lack of understanding of the issue at hand.
They then asked me to do similar things to what you suggested for previous complainant. Unfortunately I dod not wish to mess up ANYTHING on my new computer by fiddling around.
I see it as highly suspicious that both our free trials stopped on June 1. I see it as highly suspicious that my free trial alone stopped on June 1.
At least I got 18 day's free trial but didn't get through all the things I wanted to.

It took them about three days to reply.

I have now placed my order using Credit Card.

How long will it take before I can download PD7?

I sincerely hope things don't get worse from here on.

OK! I got it at last. Last night I managed to put a menu with 7 equally spaced chapters on my 40 minute video and they all work fine. The only thing I didn't do properly was change the text at the top of the page on the second and third Chapter page but I think I should be able to fix that next time.

Thanks again guys!

Phil.
Robert,

I have had another go at it based on your instructions.

This time I have been able to add my text to that which already exists.

I get a screen on the RH side that shows my additions to the text PLUS the original text. I find I can move the original text out of the way but not eliminate it. ANd both texts show up in the PREVIEW mode too. Is this correct? Are you saying that both sets of text show on the preview but not on the actual movie when burnt on a DVD?

No, that didn't work as the burnt DVD showed both lots of text on the TV as well as just playing over and over and not allowing any navigation either. Back to the drawing board.

Phil.
Cranston,

Yes, I agree.....except the word is 'fromage' n'est ce pas? Oui!

I did watch the video tutorial after 10 pm last night as my non-peak download starts then but still not able to fathom it out. Will try to watch again tonight.

Robert,

Thanks too for that - I will check it out and see.

Does WA mean WA?

Tony,

You seem to be my exact double! Even down to the guitar! Bonjour! Seriously!

Question for all - Is HD the way to go and why? (Once I can create a menu of course!)

Thanks,

Phil

D,

Thanks for that - I will try to sort it out by viewing the videos. Near the end of the month my download allocation is pretty tight.

Clearly though the user's guide needs to be clearer. And, why does the text 'highlight' if it can't be changed?

I'm only being logical now - don't get me wrong - if it was easy to follow it would not be a problem methinks.

Thanks again,

Phil.
I have the trial version of PD7 and am having trouble creating the menu which comes at the very end of the process. I am just practising doing a menu but getting nowhere fast. I just can't seem to edit the text when modifying the menu. I can get the text 'highlighted' and it changes to the font/colour I choose but the words and letters stay the same - no change.

Can anyone help please?

Phil.
Cranston,

Yeah - that's it! I'll check out those suggestions, thanks!

Phil
Hi there - I'm a newbie to this forum and PD7. I have the trial version and want to use the PiP function to flip over and over - you know, like the old Superman movie where they sent away the three crims. Can it be done? Tech help said use two PiP's at once. I did - and I got two Pip's but not flipping over. Mmmm!

Also, on the other standard PiP functions, when using a photo, can the photo be made to get larger and smaller on its path? I noticed that some of the std paths it does this anyway (esp at the end of the path) and I don't know how!

My practice movie has 46 Pip's on it - no, not all at once but all are my wife's and my photos!

Thanks,

Phil.
