Greetings, everyone.

I am an annual subscriber and use this program to upload videos of content.

Before I subscribed to the 365 model, I owned version 20 and used an effect called BorisFX Scanline. No issues here; I dragged the effect onto a video clip and it appears fine.

After installing 365 and uninstalling 20, I've noticed that the BorisFX Stylize effects I used were displaying that they were in trial mode. After getting a prompt to close PD to install the effects, the problem was resolved, but that was just the beginning.

Trying to use the effect again by dragging it onto a video clip or a project, the entire PD program freezes and a prompt (probably from really old versions) that says "PowerDirector cannot play this media because some components have not yet been activated via the Internet. Ensure that PowerDirector is connected to the Internet and then click [Retry] to try again."

A few things: First, I am connected to the internet and have a yearly subscription and account; second, both options are unselectable because the entire program freezes; and third, the only remedy to this to prevent it freezing with this prompt is to place the effect in the "fx" timeline, but why would that matter? What if someone had multiple effects on the same section?

Any help that explains why this happens would be appreciated as I've been a user of this program since 2015.

EDIT: Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work either.

Thanks!
Quote Have you sent a message to Cyberlinbk Tech Support so they can try it and try to issue a fix (or at least an explanation)?

Not yet, but I will soon. Thanks for the suggestion!
I just found this out tonight. The only fix is to add the process of all Cyberlink products and set the "Application Detection Level" to "None."

This applies to not just PowerDircetor, but all Cyberlink Products such as PhotoDirector and ColorDirector on Windows 10.
Here are my specs:
Operating system: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Model: Antec 900 Advanced Gaming Case
Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme6
Primary drive: 256GB SSD
Secondary drive: 2 TB HDDCPU: AMD FX(tm)-8320 @ 3.5 GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 970 4GB
RAM: 16 GB DDR3
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
Quote Hi,
No one has jumped in but a quick look at your DxDiag shows several issues with ntdll.dll with error code c0000005. ntdll.dll is a windows kernel dll and there are many reported issues involving this dll.
At this stage I would recommend contacting Technical Support and sending them the necessary information to see if they can solve the issue.
However, there are many solutions proposed out there if you google ntdll.dll, some of which might throw some light on your problem.
In addition, you might check if there is a more up to date driver for your realtek HD audio. The installed one is dated 7/15/2015.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply! I'll update this post later as results come in!

EDIT: The Realtek Audio Driver was the culprit. Thank you so much!

EDIT 2: Wasn't the audio driver. All programs still crash.
Which exact version of PowerDirector are you using? Patch updates are available quite regularly, and many common issues can be fixed by installing it. (Instructions for determining your version further down in this thread)

PowerDirector 16, PhotoDirector8 and ColorDirector 5 with latest patches on Windows 10.

Provide a clear explanation of what you are trying to accomplish or the issue you face. Screen shots, comparable video examples, details about the media files you are using, and step by step instructions are encouraged.

This doesn't just apply to PowerDirector, but PhotoDirector 8 and ColorDirector 5. Pretty much ANY product.
Drivers are up to date, tried compatibility mode, running as administrator, etc. Nothing works and all programs crash on startup.

Include the detailed specs of your computer when necessary. Generating a DxDiag file can be very helpful for users to help you diagnose issues. (Instructions for generating your DxDiag file further down in this thread)

Atttachment is attached.
