PowerDirector 365 Freeze Issue with BorisFX

Greetings, everyone.

I am an annual subscriber and use this program to upload videos of content.

Before I subscribed to the 365 model, I owned version 20 and used an effect called BorisFX Scanline. No issues here; I dragged the effect onto a video clip and it appears fine.

After installing 365 and uninstalling 20, I've noticed that the BorisFX Stylize effects I used were displaying that they were in trial mode. After getting a prompt to close PD to install the effects, the problem was resolved, but that was just the beginning.

Trying to use the effect again by dragging it onto a video clip or a project, the entire PD program freezes and a prompt (probably from really old versions) that says "PowerDirector cannot play this media because some components have not yet been activated via the Internet. Ensure that PowerDirector is connected to the Internet and then click [Retry] to try again."

A few things: First, I am connected to the internet and have a yearly subscription and account; second, both options are unselectable because the entire program freezes; and third, the only remedy to this to prevent it freezing with this prompt is to place the effect in the "fx" timeline, but why would that matter? What if someone had multiple effects on the same section?

Any help that explains why this happens would be appreciated as I've been a user of this program since 2015.

EDIT: Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work either.

Thanks!

The answer to that particular issue is to simply add another FX track. You can add up to 5 in total.

For the crashing issue, I suggest you submit a request directly to CL tech support. If you want forum members to also try to help, please follow the steps in the Read Me Before Posting guide and attach the DxDiag test results so we can see the critical technical details of your system.
