I thought I had asked this question before, but I can't seem to find the answer. I did a search and then I tried to find the topic I had recently view (which I can't seem to find that list either).
I have recently installed Windows 8.1 and I am in the process of reinstalling Power Director 11 Ultra. I have the program, the content pack and the essential pack installed.
Do I need to install ALL the patches or just the last one?
Does the last one contain ALL the previous patches, or just part of them?
The last patch (build 3625 at 322mb)is much larger than the first one (build 2215 at 168mb), but smaller than the one before it (build 3230 at 324mb).
Why are some patches named as "CL ..." and others "PowerDirector ..."?
Almost misunderstood you with "save your project complete". I thought your were telling me to produce it, create new project, insert the entire produce movie and then trim it.
But I figured out what you were saying. Save the project so I don't lose it. Then copy a section, then create a new project, then paste the copy in the new project.
Is it possible to produce a portion of the project rather than the whole thing?
I want to send a clip sample to the client. I didn't want to wait for the entire movie to produce.
Think I got it. Just have to confirm with the client.
I went back into the 3D-like effect and found how to spin it 180 degrees before starting. That way it was already bright before reaching the point where I needed to split the frames out.
Thank you for all your help. Not sure I would have figured it out on my own.
I thought maybe that might be the answer as well. So late last night, I attempted it again and played with setting fonts and colors. I even edited the text to the right words.
I then played with the 3D-like (which the only template I have is the default) and set the 3D Horizontal Spin III effect. It also has the fade effect (albeit a bit quicker to come bright). I do wonder if another program can make this effect (maybe GIMP).
It sad that the fade effect was built in. If anyone wanted to use fades, then it could be applied as a transition. Why force it someplace when the user may not want it at all.
Thank you. Your suggestion (and tutorials) put me on track to something that could have worked. One problem. The Flip transition seems to have an embedded fade that I can't seem to remove. That fade occurs at the point to grab the backward spin.
First time trying an attachment, hope I get it right.
It shows the effect of the spin I wanted. I just need to get the fade removed.
I am not sure if what I am trying to do, can even be done.
I am looking to perform text rotating horizontally through a vertical axis. Kind of like a weather vane.
I have found two things that are close, but not exactly what I want.
1. In Titles, Flip rotates the text 360 degrees.
2. PDtoots has a tutorial that shows how to use GIMP to create a logo on a globe.
I want the text to rotate like the flip but stop at about 10 or 20 degrees rotation and return then rotate -10 or -20 degrees and return. I have not installed GIMP so I don't even know if text could be put on a cylinder rather than a globe. But I don't think that would be the effect I am looking to create.
Anyone have any ideas? Maybe an effect I have missed?
I even tried to see if a particle could do the trick. But I wasn't successful.
Well, I think that's the deceiving part.
I bet Windows XP Pro x86 SP3 works fine.
Just as they need to separate the x86 builds from the x64 builds, they also need to separate the requirements.
(and it would help on their servers with the smaller downloads)
It probably should read
x86 Microsoft Windows® 8, 7, Vista or XP (Service Pack 3).
x64 Microsoft Windows® 8, 7, Vista.
Since I wasn't doing anything while waiting for the reply, I decided to go ahead and do all the patches.
Sadly, re-installing did not fix any of the problems I was having. The re-install of the OS was the suggestion made by Cyberlink Support.
I started looking in the forums for anyone that may have come across my problem in the last six months. What I found is ALL forum people talking about issues on the x64 platform, had vista or higher. Seems no one has XP x64.
So I did something that triggered a thought. I found a way to install the x86 on the x64 OS.
Guess what. Not a single problem from the 32 bit PD11.
After much cost in changing motherboard, processor and memory, then many hours of trials, tests and emails, I finally have the answer.
PD11 may be x64 ... but it is NOT compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 SP2!!!
Tried to do your very first suggestion. Went to the Apple Quicktime download site and clicked DOWNLOAD. The dialog came up and asked where to save the file. I chose the desktop and clicked save. The web page is updated with thank you for downloading. Yet I received NO copy of the download manager for installation.
I really hate download managers. Even Cyberlinks gives me A LOT of trouble. Last one took over 3 hours of retries before I got the 300 MB update. It kept failing at various points. The worst at 92% complete.
Now I have to take a risk on finding a download of the full install without it being packaged with a virus or some other junk.
I have searched any didn't find a direct answer. Only round-about ones.
I just finished re0installing Windows on a blank HDD.
No other software (at least pertaining to video or sound) has been install.
That means no codecs (other than basic ones from windows) are installed.
I am ready to install PD11.
Do I need to instal all patches (i have about 10 of them) in order? Or are they cumulative and I only need to install the last one?
I have been ignoring the warnings. The clips import. And things appear to be OK. I have not wanted to turn off the warning just in case I do end up making a mistake. Like the one I did earlier this evening. Attempted to bring in a 16:9 into a 4:3 project.
The warning is great, when its correct. But annoying when it says it doesn't match when it does.
By the way, I looked around a bit for the Project Settings. I can't seem to find where those get set other than Settings, General, TV Format. Other than the ratio (in addition to TV Format), are there other Project Settings I am missing?
HDedit,
If the file imports into PD10 without problems, then why would anything about the file be a problem for PD11 TRIAL? If PD10 can do it, then PD11 TRIAL should do it also. I don't believe for 1 second that its the file. However, as you requested, Media Info reports:
Format : MPEG Audio
Format version : Version 1
Format profile : Layer 3
Mode : Joint stereo
Mode extension : MS Stereo
Duration : 3mn 2s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 128 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 2.77 MiB (100%)
The MP3 is attached. Its small so it should be OK. I don't know how to determine any further data.
Xerox,
I noticed you said PD11 rather than PD11 TRIAL. The TRIAL has limitations. That is definate. But is the MP3 one of the limitations? That is the question.
Carl,
I had image issues in PD10. No issues with importing any audio in PD10. I downloaded PD11 Trial to see if the image issue could be resolved. I like most of the editing tools in PD11, but if I can't import MP3 and AVI, then the nice tools mean absolutly nothing.
I even reopened PD10 and tried the MP3 and AVI again just to make sure nothing got broke. They still import fine into PD10. But still will not import into PD11.
I was reading the Download Information Limitations, it pretty much says the same thing you did.
So it sounds like there's no reason to spend the money and update.
Is that correct? The trial version can not import many file types including MP3 and AVI? It seems they would through up a dialog specifying you need to purchase to import. Instead, I get and error saying the file is broken, unsupported protected or another reason.
Tony,
Thank you for the video. It tells me I am not doing anything wrong because you have done it exactly the same way as I have. My problem still exists, and it happens when the image is dragged & dropped into the time line.
I found software that would cut apart the panoramic image. I cut it into 6 tiles. I then placed them into the library. When they are placed onto the timeline, they are of good quality. This I do not understand. You have a very wide image and it works. But anything wide for me, does not.
Also, I can not seem to figure out a way to seamlessly pan from one image to the next. if I butt them together, I get a black transition period between the end of one and the begining of the next.
