Since I last posted, I've experimented and see now the options I have. I can move the files and then find them again (after being prompted to browse) next time I open the project, or I can Export a copy of the source files along with the .pds to any location I choose. The latter is indeed elegant, but it would require me to organize the source files under Cyberlink projects (which I don't want to do) or to keep duplicates of source files, which takes up lots of space. Ideally, Cyberlink would do what Picasa does, which is to follow the source files if they are moved while the software is open. I take it that Cyberlink won't do this.

Thanks for the answers, and so quickly, but I'm afraid I don't follow. Robert says that if I "Pack Project for Export", all the source files will be copied to the new destination. But I don't need to move the entire project. (In fact I don't want to move the .pds file.) Essentially my situation is this: Currently I keep the .pds file and the source files organized independently of Cyberlink, on a hard drive that is about filled. I plan to use an external hard drive system (Drobo) that will hold only raw video, not any projects, which I intend to leave on the current hard drive. (I don't want to upset the independent organization of the source files.) So I want to move just the source files, not the .pds files. Of course, if I need to, I can move the pds files onto the other drive as well, but I wonder whether that is necessary. Thanks again.

While in the middle of a project, with a saved .pds file, I need to change the location of the source files but am hesitant to do this for fear of corrupting the project. What is the safe way to tell Cyberlink that the source files (avi or mt2s) is changing locations? Thanks in advance, and I know this must be answered somewhere but I can't find it.

For software that is otherwise both powerful and easy to learn, I'm pulling my hair out trying to get transitions between links to work properly. I would like one clip to dissolve (or fade, or blur, etc.) directly into the next clip without a blank black screen between the clips. No matter what I try, I cannot avoid that blank black screen. Here's what I've tried so far:
- Just a pre- transition.
- Just a post- transition.
- Both a pre- transition and a post- transition.
- Placing the transition in a gap between the clips (not accepted)
- Left clicking on a transition (nothing happens)
- Right clicking on a transition (only an option to "remove")
- Dragging the edge of the transition (nothing happens)
- Looking for a "switch" button mentioned in Help instructions (cannot locate)
- Looking for anything that will permit me to change the start or end times of the transitions (cannot locate)
- Pushing the clips so that they overlap and selecting "insert"
- Pushing the clips so that they overlap and selecting "overwrite"
No matter what I try, I cannot get the transition to work smoothly or the way the Help instructions say it should; there is always that blank black space between the clips. Thanks in advance for any help.
