You're right. It's easy being dumb when you're new.
Hi. PD 9 here.

I want to capture 'Track Changes' files in Microsoft Word and do the voiceover at the same time. Can I do that in PD 9?

Okay, since I know nothing, one way seems as good as the next, so I'll try the approach you suggest. And in the time it takes to get the music tracks done, I can read some of the pdf for PD.
Why would you start with audio and get it finished first?
The subtitle of this forum is 'share your knowledge', but the position I'm in is 'share your ignorance'. I'm really new to PD9.

Here's the situation: I've recorded an hour of me playing and singing an album's worth of songs to both video and audio. Edits and cuts are required to pare it down to about a 40-minute performance.

Here's what I want: at some point, I'm going to overdub various other instrument parts to the audio I've recorded - bass, keyboard, backing vocals - lots of stuff - it'll take me another couple months to finish it.

Here's my question: Should I finish the audio portion before I start getting into cuts and edits in PD? Or can I start to get the video segments in the order I want them now, and later synch up the overdubbed audio parts with the edited video?
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. Thanks also to Tech Support who provided me with this link to a CL Cleaner:

Quote: Hello
I need to uninstall my Ebay-purchased copy of PowerDirector 9 so that I can install my new version. PowerDirector does not show up in my Control Panel list of programs to Uninstall. What do I need to do to uninstall PD9?

Thanks,
Tony

FWIW, Tech Support provided me with this link to a CL Cleaner that will nix registry entries of previous versions of PD9:

It's fast. Don't blink, or you'll miss it.
Ah. Love. Thanks.
CL Cleaner? CL stands for CyberLink? Do I have to contact Tech Support to get it?
Okay, I bought it. So, is it necessary to uninstall the trial I was using (which has expired) before I install the new download?
Robert, thanks - I didn't notice the trash can icon.
I'd like to buy PD9, but the purchase procedure automatically adds the extended download service (and the charge for that service) to the cost of the software. I don't want the extended download service, but I don't understand how to de-select it. Help!
Okay, I've tried the set of instructions in the PD7 tutorial you linked to.

* Automatic Batch Capture: The hiccup occurs when I click 'Start' for the automatic batch capture. At that point, nothing happens; nothing's captured.

* Manual Batch Capture: The procedure stops working for me at the point at which I have to select the start position. I can use the toggle wheel to find the start position I want, and the transport controls become active, but no time value appears in the time readout - it stays at 00;00;00;00.

Any ideas what settings I should look at to overcome the problem in either the automatic or manual procedure?
Will do. Thanks very much.
Hi - complete newbie here. I'm using the 30-day trial of PD9. I'm trying to capture from my Canon Elura 100. The program is talking to the camcorder okay - it starts playing when I select 'Capture from a DV Camcorder'.

* In Preferences>Parameters>DV Capture I've de-selected both DV Auto Stop options.

* In Profile, I've selected DV-AVI Standard Format.

* I click on Perform Manual Batch capture, and it pops up the window for the DV Manual Batch Capture instructions.

The instructions say to click the 'Add' button and then set a start position frame and end position frame using the playback controls and then click [Mark In].

At this point I've got two questions:

1 Which playback controls - on the camera, or on the DV Manual Batch Capture popup?

2 What's 'Mark In'?

If you can think of anything else that's useful that I haven't mentioned, I'd love to hear about it - I'm used to audio software, but this video stuff is rather new to me.
