Quote: Hi,

to narrow down the issue I would like to ask you to do some tests:

1. connect to the TV directly and also use Audio of the TV (no external or onboard audio - please use HDMI Audio)

2. set the Display refresh rate to 24 / 23 and check again if the jitter persists.

Michael

I'll try that, and I will confirm later.

FYI
I have no stuttering issues in Media Center with live-TV or DVD playback at 50hz and onboard SPDIF.
Both I and manoroid has posted our issues on Nvidia forum too as we don't know if the problem is related to PowerDVD or Nvidia drivers...

Quote: I had the same problem. The only way I can fix it permanently is to uninstall Internet explorer 9 by going into the control panel. It worked correctly before I installed Internet explorer 9 and after it was uninstalled.

Thanks for your reply!

For all CyberLink guys: Is this bug confirmed from your side, and will there be a fix for this soon???

It surely just a mather of time when IE9 will automaticly install through windows update, and then a huge group of guys will have problem with PowerDVD!!!

Quote: Yes, this only fixes it for a short while. I didn't even restart, just kept working on other stuff, and a few hours later when I tried to watch a blu ray in WMC, I got the same problem. Double clicking the MCL file fixes it every time, but again, it's only a TEMPORARY fix...

Hi!
I am having the exactly same problem!
1. When I start PowerDVD with a blu ray within MCE the powerDVD animation-logo starts
2. Then screen flickers(I think its when turning aero off).
3. Then the screen turns totally blue.
4. After that the MCE volume popup-screen appears in right upper corner, the bluray spinns for a while... (When clicking on MCL file, the popup normally shows "SPDIF" and the PowerDVD logo is still in the background)
5. Then screen flickers again (I think aero switching on again) and the screen is just blue forever.
6. If I then click back-button on the remote a popup window appear with the message "Koan box stopped working, You will return to media center"

The fix clicking on the MCL-file only temporarly solves it, after a while, or when computer return from hibernate mode the problem comes back!

Is there a solution for this problem??

I have recently installed IE9 if that mathers...

The application only "freezes/turns blue" within mce, starting powerdvd (both cinema mode and normal mode) outside mce always work!
I have a new clean w7 home premium x64 swedish install with all latest windows updates (nothing else is installed on my computer), powerdvd 10 ultra mk2, latest patch from Mars.
My hardware is a stock Asrock ION 330 HT-BD HDMI-led LCD screen, using optical SPDIF out to my receiver.

I am using my HTPC in the living room so there is a "NO option" to start powerdvd without the MCE remote!

Beachman I am not able to do 24P yet, but one day i hope to so it is 60hz for me. Are you doing HD audio over HDMI to your AVR or just LPCM?

I am using SPDIF - optical on my Asrock ION based system.

I am using Reclock to get 24p to work without stutters, but in 60hz there is no need for reclock i think...

If you are able to du a multiplier of 24 (48 or 72hz)I think reclock is the best way to get stutterfree video.
Quote: Interesting since my DVD playback has been near perfect and it is just my Blu Ray messing up. Sadly 2325 is the oldest version I am qualified to use

Are you using Nvidia? Just want to try narrowing down where we are similiar if you dont mind posting a dxdiag.

You may have problem with newer nvidia drivers, try reverting to 258.96.

Read the following thread:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=188990&st=0

I had similar problems, reverting the driver was a part of my solution:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15116.page#73068
I just want to share to others how I solved my bluray plaback stuttering!

Background:
I have experienced extreme stuttering on bluray playback with a True Cinema TV setup at 23.97xxx hz (the best way to get accurate 24p bluray frame rate without any 2:3 pulldown constant stuttering in 60hz). I am using Asrock ION 330 HT-BD Win7 x64 PowerDVD 10 Ultra.

First of all there is broblems with newer Nvidia drivers and video playback, read this thread:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=188990&st=0
After I reverted to the 258.96 Nvidia drivers I got rid of all stuttering IN SD-DVD playback and LiveTV-playback in Media Center. But I still got stuttering problems with BD-playback in powerDVD!

How I solved stuttering in PowerDVD with Reclock (http://forum.slysoft.com/forumdisplay.php?f=85):
The problem is that I want to use Real SPDIF DTS 5.1 sound. By default Reclock defaults to PCM 2 channel. But with a modern TV with a refresh rate close to video original frame rate it is possible to configure Reclock to accept bitstream(SPDIF) sound and still sync video playback with the gpu-clock.
In Reclock choose accept bitstream and uncheck disable media speed correction. If the refresh rate is close to original video fps, you should only get a few sound packet drops or repeats that is not noticeable.

This setup completely solved my BD-stuttering in PowerDVD !!!

One interesting thing is why there is no stuttering in media center with live TV or DVD video playback without reclock. Maybe Media Center or the MS codec has built in functionality equally to Reclock, this is just a guess?? Can anyone confirm this???

The fact is that PowerDVD can't make smooth True Cinema Video playback without Reclock! I hope the PowerDVD developers fix this issue in further releases. In my opinion a third party software (that requires scientific skills in configuration) shouldn't be required for a $100 retail product!!!

Tip for those who would go deep in vide fps vs. refresh rate should download reclock and read the ReadMe, its very interesting! Another good article from Intel about the same subject : http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/video-frame-display-synchronization/
Quote: When I put in a regular BluRay it does not auto detect and change. Really unfortunate but I guess I can live with it. So I go to my nvidia control panel, switch my refresh rate to 24 hz, see my TV is in 24p mode and play a BluRay.

Now, however, the disc skips. It happens frequently, a few times every 30 seconds or so. It's very annoying and is rendering my BluRay collection unwatchable?

I have exactly the same problem as blinken007 describes.
My setup is:
Windows 7 x64 latest nvidia drivers
Asrock 330ht-bd
LG LED-TV with both 24hz and 23.97hz framerate support.

The BD-Video plays perfectly smooth for about 2 minutes and then frameskips for about 30 seconds when I set Refresh rate at 23.97hz (even more frequent at 24hz), this is really annoying!!!
When I watch pal-dvds at 50hz the video always plays perfectly smooth...

It is really annoying that I have to switch the refresh rate manually everytime I will watch a Bluray disc. Since I live in Europe and watching PAL-TV at 50hz most of the time. It is impossible to get stutterfree playback for blurays at 50hz (due to invalid multiplier).

And don't tell me to use ReClock, I have spent hours to get it to work with DTS sound and so on...
If I have payed €70 for a software to play BD-discs I expect it to work without open source third party programs...

Anyone that have a solution for this issue without spending hours using/configuring third party programs like reclock or powerstrip???

I appreciate all answers!
