Do any versions of PD support Adobe Flash as an output type?

I have PD Version 10 and I do not see it listed as an output type under the "Produce" tab, and could not find anything on the forums when I did a key word search on "Adobe" and "Flash."
I am running PD Build 9.0.0.3305. Diagnostic file is attached.

I have a Creative Vado video camera which is similar to the Flip video camera.

The original .AVI files are clean and clear when I view them using Windows Media Player.

When I bring them into PD9 and view them from the timeline many of them get extremely pixelated. It seems like the better the light the less pixelated they get.

Additionally a lot of the audio is out of sync when I burn it to a DVD. Not all of it, but a good portion.
Is it worth the $60 bucks to move to PD10?

I've used PD9 for about a year and a half and am fairly proficient with it, but am still frustrated by the number of times it crashes.

Has PD10 reduced these problems?

And what about other features of PD10?
Here here!
Worked fine for me too MadCap. I love the guitar riff!
Augie,

Does the option that you are selecting change the aspect ratio so that the image is stretched, or does it automatically crop off the top and bottom of your 4:3 clip?

How did you capture your Sony Handycam 8mm tapes?

Not to get off topic, but to share some experience with you on converting from 4:3 to 16:9, here are some things I have discovered.

I use the Power Tools / Crop function to modify the aspect ratio of my clips from 4:3 to 16:9. This takes some time because you have to work with each clip to capture the parts that are important to you since you will be losing about 30% of your video image.

I've had some problems with some Compact VHS video captured to a DVD, then converted from VOB to MPEG-2. If I try to resize the video window it distorts the aspect ratio. This doesn't seem to happen with my 8mm and Hi 8mm files which were captured directly from a Digital 8 camcorder to AVI and MPEG-2 files.

Just a recent observation...PowerDirector 9 seems to crash when you go to "Create Disc" if you have removed/deleted the DVD Menu selected for the open project.
Is there any way to create a DVD menu in PowerDirector similar to the one at the link below? The tools I have are PD9 and Adobe Photoshop. I do not have Adobe After Effects (nor do I want to buy it), but have recently downloaded the Blender freeware, and am beginning to learn that.

I was told if you're going to produce to a DVD use MPEG 2, though I can't elaborate on this at all.
Here's a Western Digital one:

Bif,

The link you posted is no longer valid, but is this the type of hardware device you are referring to?

Thanks,
~Tim
The steps should be basically the same. The advantage you have is 2 different angles. You don't need to "create" a second angle using the crop tool as was done in the tutorial.
I had a similar problem...the audio was fine, but the video zoomed and lost its proper aspect ratio.

Have not investigated a fix yet. I'll try and post a screen shot of the file late.

When you say you "(s)aved it as an MPEG 2 file" do you mean you produced it to an MPEG 2 file?

When you produce a file, that is exactly what you are doing...producing a file outside of the PowerDirector application. When you attach the file to your email you should be selecting the MPEG file you produced with the PD9 application.

No offense intended, but this sounds to me like user error.

And no, you don't have to close PD9 when you're done editing a clip.
Sounds reasonable to me. How big is your system (C:) drive?

I don't know if it's really necessary, but I like to leave a lot of room available on the C: drive.

And remember, hard drives these days are huge and cheap, so it's not a question of if your hard drive will fail, but when, so use one of your hard drives to back up all your work, unplug it, and put it away in a safe place!
Thank you HDedit...that was simple!
I've downloaded several DVD menu templates from the PowerDirector web site.

http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/morePip/ALL/downloadCount/7#MT_-1_downloadCount_7_thumb_1

Several of them cause PD9 to freeze at the 0% mark of Apply or Apply to All Pages. Specifically, Home Cinema 2 uploaded on 1/20/2011 and Arbol y rio uploaded on 1/19/2011.

I first tried the templates on a 20 minute project with no chapters, then the same project with five chapters, and then on a new project with nothing in it -- same result.

I rebooted my computer and only started PD9 -- same result. Other DVD menu templates I have downloaded in the past work fine. I am using build 2504.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My dxdiag is attached.

How do you create your own PD9 DVD Menu Templates?
