Ah,
I may have the problem with the old trial version downloaded, which is now replaced by new installation from disk. (?)
I'll try to clean out file folders.
|
|
I have similar problems where a downloaded template (PIP) does not entirely load into the displayed library at first.
If I access the new file through the Windows directories, I will eventually see it show up in the display library.....along with ALL the other ones I have downloaded and thought they had mysteriously vanished

Just a follow up from my post above.
I have done some more experimenting with the background music /video for DVD disk menus.
I had incorrectly stated the music plays at 2 min. to match the background video.
Music times out at 1:40 then repeats along with the video.
I experimented with video length to hopefully increase the music times, but even with a 5 min. video, the music times out at 1:40.
So, i wanted to be sure I was not adding any more MB to the project with a longer video attached. I tried several video lengths and each time the file size would max out the same at 198MB, which coincides with the 1:40 music length.
This is an acceptable music length for the main DVD menu page, for my project and i am satisfied.
It sure beats the 10 sec. timeout default I was experiencing!

OK, I can't really explain it, but I have found a method for music to play on DVD disk menus and have it extend longer than the 10 sec PD default timeouts.
Maybe it was suggested in another thread already, and not entirely understood by myself, so please excuse my repetition.
Original problem was to solve why I can't play a music clip on DVD menu that will extend to the full length of a song. Maybe not entirely solved, but I have it working to my satisfaction.
Here is what I did:
Step 1:
Make a separate 2 min. video with NO music or audio, produce it as a MPEG2
Step 2:
Create new DVD disk menu from an existing PD template
Step 3:
While in the Menu modify mode, insert the new video made and select “LOOP” Insert video as “Place video or photo to background” and NOT “Import”
Step 4:
Save menu file as a new name (required as you modify anything)
Step 5:
Select the new file for DVD menu and “Apply for all pages”
Step 6:
Modify text in right field if desired, or any other preferences available
(note, these custom changes do not affect original menu template file, but exist as a sub-pref)
Step 7:
UNCHECK the back ground music default.
Step 8:
SAVE everything and EXIT
Step 9:
Restart PD and open same file
Step 10:
Check and INSERT new MUSIC mp3 file from library….( and you think its really not going to work….)
RESULT: Music plays for the length of the 2 minute background video! And repeats with the loop.
Tested on burned DVD read on PC and on DVD player/ TV’s.
So, I can’t explain why the settings stuck, but they do when I exit program , re-launch then add music. Somehow the music length is tied into programming of the video length used. More experimentation required.
Hope this helps anyone!

WOW~!
I removed the PD COLORBOARDS, produced and re-burned the show and everything cleaned up quite nicely!
I am quite satisfed with the resolution of the slideshow photos now and can see great results on both my PC and through DVD players on TV's.
BTW, I made my own black background colorboard by simply shooting a jpeg in my dark closet!
Thanks for the help.
Jeff
PS: Check out my reply on the other thread about background music to DVD menus!

Hi,
I have a much more important topic under discussion on another thread, but had another simple question to ask as well.
The DISK MENU function where I add a music selection keeps timing out and does not adhere to settings to allow the full song to play.
I wish for music to play a 2 min song on the MAIN navigation page.
It keeps repeating over every 10-15 sec.
I unchecked "repeat" and "fade in/out"
Any ideas?

Well I'll be darn....
I know for sure I have inserted PD colorboards between some the slide show transitions, kind of like a spacer that helps adjust the fade transitions.
I have NOT used color boards on any of the video produced MPEG2 files.
My project is a mixture of video & slide shows, each produced seperately into MPEG2 files and then loaded into a new PD file in the DISK MENU section.
I don't understand why the MPEG2 produced files for the slide show look so good as viewed with my PC, but then degrade so much when added to and burned to DVD disk.
I also checked the output to file folders VIDEO/AUDIO. I tried to copy those to a DVD disk outside of PD and still get the same degraded pixilation problems. When I view those files on PC with another app., I still see the degraded slide show. So I know its NOT my DVD burner, it has to be something with producing the DVD show in PD.
I will try to delete color boards for slide shows and see result.
Any other solutions?
Thanks

I don't think this is a graphics card issue because I burn the DVD and see the same issue with resolution loss on PC's as well as all DVD players to HD TV's.
My goal is to make DVD show for use on HD TVs.
Here is my PC setup:
Dell 8000XPS, i7 Processor, 8 gig Ram, GT-9400 Nvida 1 Gig graphics card
Last night I tried to create MPEG2 files from custom profile of most available resolution formats & using both the "Progressive" & "Top field 1st" options.
No luck with anything.
The BEST MPEG2 file I can make for the photo slide show is the HD 1080i.
Resolution looks perfect!
But all is lost when I insert the MPEG2 files into a new PD file for CREATE DISK.
Thanks for any help!

I have a great project under way with many chapters made from HD video and some chapters with photo slide shows. All files are produced MPEG2 and inserted into disk menu.
When I burn to disk the slide shows are horrible with pixalation scattering around the image. Even the PD text is blurry.
The HD video portions loose some res from initial MPEG2 files, but not as bad as the slide shows.
Any clues?
Thanks

Personally I like to produce to MPEG2 format first and then import that file into the timeline for final DVD authoring/burning. This separates the rendering process and burning process into two steps and if there is a problem I know where it went wrong. .
Hello all,
I am new here to the forum and found this thread as close to the question I need to ask.
Q: What is happening with the resolution loss I experience from the 'create disk' function?
Some background info:
- I produce several MPEG2 files in 720 ( was same as captured in 720)
The MPEG files produced are excellent resolution, including PD text added, transitions, ect.
- MPG files are added to a NEW PD file in the "Create Disk>Content" import additional videos
- I build the DVD menu from several MPG files as well as slide shows also “produced” under the same formats
- Burning to DVD causes the final output to loose a great deal of resolution for both the DVD and for the support files option.
- Viewing the DVD on a PC or HD TV has same loss of resolution, image slide shows which are panning appear pixilated (moray effect). Videos appear slightly less clarity. All PD text gets blurry.
Speculation on settings for “interlaced/ non-interlaced”???
I have tried the method for inserting the MPEG files into the Timeline as chapters and still get the same poor output. (James instruction)
PC info:
Dell 8000 Studio XPS with i7 processor, 8 gig Ram , DVD Burner: (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GH50N ATA)
Please help!
Thanks
Jeff
