DVD Disk menu music problem

Hi,
I have a much more important topic under discussion on another thread, but had another simple question to ask as well.

The DISK MENU function where I add a music selection keeps timing out and does not adhere to settings to allow the full song to play.

I wish for music to play a 2 min song on the MAIN navigation page.
It keeps repeating over every 10-15 sec.

I unchecked "repeat" and "fade in/out"

Any ideas?

OK, I can't really explain it, but I have found a method for music to play on DVD disk menus and have it extend longer than the 10 sec PD default timeouts.

Maybe it was suggested in another thread already, and not entirely understood by myself, so please excuse my repetition.

Original problem was to solve why I can't play a music clip on DVD menu that will extend to the full length of a song. Maybe not entirely solved, but I have it working to my satisfaction.

Here is what I did:

Step 1:
Make a separate 2 min. video with NO music or audio, produce it as a MPEG2

Step 2:
Create new DVD disk menu from an existing PD template

Step 3:
While in the Menu modify mode, insert the new video made and select “LOOP” Insert video as “Place video or photo to background” and NOT “Import”

Step 4:
Save menu file as a new name (required as you modify anything)

Step 5:
Select the new file for DVD menu and “Apply for all pages”

Step 6:
Modify text in right field if desired, or any other preferences available
(note, these custom changes do not affect original menu template file, but exist as a sub-pref)

Step 7:
UNCHECK the back ground music default.

Step 8:
SAVE everything and EXIT

Step 9:
Restart PD and open same file

Step 10:
Check and INSERT new MUSIC mp3 file from library….( and you think its really not going to work….)

RESULT: Music plays for the length of the 2 minute background video! And repeats with the loop.
Tested on burned DVD read on PC and on DVD player/ TV’s.

So, I can’t explain why the settings stuck, but they do when I exit program , re-launch then add music. Somehow the music length is tied into programming of the video length used. More experimentation required.

Hope this helps anyone!

Just a follow up from my post above.

I have done some more experimenting with the background music /video for DVD disk menus.

I had incorrectly stated the music plays at 2 min. to match the background video.
Music times out at 1:40 then repeats along with the video.

I experimented with video length to hopefully increase the music times, but even with a 5 min. video, the music times out at 1:40.

So, i wanted to be sure I was not adding any more MB to the project with a longer video attached. I tried several video lengths and each time the file size would max out the same at 198MB, which coincides with the 1:40 music length.

This is an acceptable music length for the main DVD menu page, for my project and i am satisfied.

It sure beats the 10 sec. timeout default I was experiencing!
