Navigation Buttons disappear on menu when Blu Ray disc is burned?

I am new to Power Director and created my first video on blu ray. When I preview the disc before burning everything works great but after the disc is burned the navigation buttons on the scene menu disappear. They are there but invisable. I have tried reloading the program, recreating new menus, using different nav. buttons etc. but nothing has worked. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Is there a bug in the power director program regarding menus? Thank you!

Do you have Chapters defined in the Edit Module for your BluRay Disk?

You can have Titles instead of Chapters. Titles are separate Projects or Videos added on the Content Tab of Create Disk module.

If you have created a custom menu, you may have missed some things, like the highlight color for selecting the chapter.
If you use the built in Menus you should not have any problems.

I think that OP is referring to PowerDirector menu buttons?
I saw it happen to me once - forgot what I did to fix it, I think I uninstalled the previous PD12, PD13 trial and cleaned the registry manually.
I saw it posted here by another user too.

Thank you for answering! I did try building my own menu and also using a predone menu with set navigation buttons (home, back arrow, forward arrow etc). I get the same result every time. During preview disc everything works beautiful but after the disc is burned the navigation buttons are invisible on the screen. The highlight cursor moves to where the buttons are supposed to be and actually function when pressing enter. I did uninstall and reinstall power director 13. Today I created a whole new file and reedited the video, created chapters and used a preset menu with the same result-invisible navagation buttons. Any other ideas? Thank you.

Do you mean playing the menu on a standalone BD player connected to a tv or playing the menu on a pc software player does not show the navigation buttons... A screenshot of your tv might help.

I just tried the disc in my computer blu ray drive and it has the same results-no navigation button icons. For some reason it will not take a screen shot of the menu. Thank you.

What I have found is that I have to make my Blu Ray video about a half hour shorter than whatever the disc says it can hold. For example I currently have 50gb discs that should hold 4 hours of blu ray video. However if I try to burn a disc with a 4 hour video it will have problems like the nav buttons missing or music skipping etc. So I only create blu ray videos that are no more than 3 hours and 30 minutes and I have no issues. Hope this helps.

Of course there is a solution. The OP did not respond so he or she gets no answer. The Op stated that everything previewed correctly on the pc. She has answered so lets leave it at that. I never tried 50 GB BD but good to know not to exceed 4 hours.

Thank you both for your comments. My project is a little different. I have finished a 5 year long project of editing old Super 8 home video from the 1960's to 1980's converted to digital. I am ready to publish and give the video to family members. It is about 5 1/2 hours total. It will fit on 3 standard DVDs at an acceptable resolution. It will fit on one BluRay at an acceptable resolution - I am using 25 GB discs. When I am in CyberDirector 14's disk burning menu and ready to burn, it says the size is just barely over 20GB (meaning there is supposedly almost 5 GB of space left).

I cannot shorten the video. I suppose I could buy larger BluRay discs and try that. Would the navigation buttons, used for getting around in the scene selection screens, like the home button, next, previous ("H" "->" "<-") really send it over the edge when I supposedly have 5 more GB of space on the disc?

When I use the preview feature, the navigation buttons, meaning the home button, next, previous ("H" "->" "<-") show up and appear to be working appropriately. Specifically, the navigation buttons can be seen and you can tell which one is being selected based on which one is being underlined.

The problem is that when the disc is burned, and then I stick that disc into the two different Blu-Ray players we use in house (the type connected to TV, not a PC), the navigation buttons disappear. At that point, I can only see the the "underline," not the navigation buttons which are supposed to appear above the underline.

My impression is that this is the same problem the OP was describing.

With 5 1/2 hours of video, and different people are in different "chapters" of the video, I want my parents, brothers, cousins, etc. to be able to find the chapters they want to view and skip stuff they don't want to see. So this is something that is important to me to have resolved.

Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated.

somemildviolins - To solve your problem would need to know the aspect ratio of the video and the aspect ratio of the BD you created. If your tv aspect ratio is widescreen then your settings on the player must be widescreen too. See this link for an answer: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/42874.page .

Let us know if this fixes the problem. If not then the above information is needed for a different solution. Is it possible that the tv has an excessive amount of overscan that those navigation buttons are not displayed. A screenshot of the tv screen and then a screenshot of your pc screen while previewing the menu to compare would tell the story.

Please read this sticky and let us know what version of PD that you are using: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40225.page . The solution can be different depending on the version of PD being used here.

PowerDirector 14, current through build 2302

brand new Sony Bluray player. BDPS3500

original video shot 4:3, converted to 4:3, edited to 4:3 and in timeline at 4:3. But BR disc created as 16:9. I saw no other option.

played with remote to sony bluray player and see no option to set display at 16:9 only.

If you want 4:3 BD, you simply need to select the SD definition. The content will be 4:3 if the project is set to 4:3, the menu will be 16:9 as shown in attached pic details.

Be cautious how the TV view mode is set, stretch, zoom,.... for proper playback.
