PD12 - DVD Player Compatability Issue? Any selection will not highlight when played on DVD/TV player

I am successfully burning a video with chapters but am having an issue with seeing what I want to select - either on the root menu or in the chapters menu when I play the PD12 burned DVD on my DVD player and through my TV.

Just to elaborate - when I want to use my 'pointer' in my DVD player to select either 'Play' or 'Scenes' neither with highlight. However they will select if I press the down arrow once, then all chapters play - if pressing the down and right arrow (on the DVD player selector) then the Scenes menu comes up. From there, only a yellow line may show up on the chapter thumbnail as I move the selector on the DVD player controller. It does not line up consistently on the bottom or top of the thumbnail - sometimes it's halfway through the thumbnail.

When I put this same DVD disc into my computer, the Play and SCENES text will turn yellow (as I have directed it to do so) when I run the cursor over the selection - in the Chapters menu, the appropriate thumbnail will have it's entire thumbnail surrounded by a yellow highlight when I run the cursor over a particular thumbnail.

It appears it's an issue with my DVD player and TV but... WHAT IS IT?

Thanks for any clues to what is going on.

How old is your DVD player and is it a basic model instead of a deluxe model?

If you have access to another Newer DVD Player, try the PD created DVD in that player.

I've tried the same disc on both DVD players I have and the same results have occurred. I think they are both greater than 3 years old.

DVD Player #1 - Sony DVP-SR200P.

DVD player #2 is a Toshiba DVD Video Player SD-2900.

Don't really have easy access to other DVD players.

Any other suggestions? Thanks

Your 2 dvd players are 6 to 7 years old. Is the dvd that you created 4x3 or 16x9 widescreen? Also is your tv an old 4x3 crt or flat 16x9 widescreen? Please post back with this information.

About 90% sure the DVD's I made were 16:9 format. The TV is new - er. FLat screen adn has the capability of 16:9 or 4:3 format., I'm pretty sure it's set on 16:9 now. I tried to change the screen size and the condition described still exists.

One of the TVs is a Sharp Aquos LC-60LE633U and the other one , I don't have its infor right here but it's a year newer and it's a flat screen too with 16:9 or 4:3 capability.

Well I can do that but I do not know what file that would be or where it is located. I could find it I am sure but need to know how I can search for it and locate it. Does the menu file have a particular extension, etc... then I could search for it.

I've thought of the following strategy also - I'll take the DVD to a 'Best Buy' or such a place that has newer DVD players, and see if the selections highlight while being played in the 'new' DVD player.

THanks

Also, I must reiterate, the 'movie' plays as intended on a computer. Just NOT when it's played in either of my two DVD players.

So I am not sure what providing a menu file would revel but.... would try to locate it if I have a clue on a file name or extension. I just loaded the project into PD 12 and, as I've stated, it (the 'Play' or 'Scenes' - in Root menu or the thumbnails in the chapters menu page) highlights fine. For the menu highlighting to work correctly in your setup, the dvd player must be set to the 16x9 mode only. See the 1st and last thread of this post: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/42176.page .Older dvd players will have the problem and won't work.

See the user manual for your Sony DVP-SR200P: https://docs.sony.com/release/DVPSR200P_US_ES.pdf . Page 9 and page 27 show you how to set it up for your Sharp Aquos LC-60LE633U 16x9 television. Try this:
1. Set the sony to 16x9 via the menu on the remote control.
2. Put in your 16x9 homemade dvd in the sony.
3. See that the dvd menu now highlights correctly. It should work.

Let us know if this take care of the problem. You could also take that sony to best buy and let the geek squad set it for you to take home. You may not need to buy a new dvd player.

SPOT ON! tomasc, you've 'hit the nail on the head' !!!!

I knew there was adjustments for picture format in the TV, but I forgot there was such in the DVD players too! Once I got this sorted out, the 'Play' and 'Scenes' and all the thumbnails highlighted properly!

THANKS YOU guys for commenting and helping me out. Much appreciated!
