Backgroud music duration on sub-menus

Hi, everybody,

I have a problem with music length associated to sub-menus.

If the process described by HDedit here http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/26428.page#143879 works fine for the main menu, it's not the case for sub-menus.

Music on these sub-menus always has a duration of the default time (18 sec).

Perhaps is there anything I don't understand (my english is not so good, you can see that...).

Perhaps a picture wil be fine.

And, if I have well understood, is there a problem ?

Many thanks... Jean-Paul

Hi Jean-Paul -

You shouldn't apologise for your English. It's better than some native English speakers!

The issue of how music & thumbnails behave in menus has been raised many times before...
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/24550.page
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/25210.page

It's not a "bug" because it was made to work that way. More like a design flaw!

Cheers - Tony

Thank you, Tony,

I didn't see this posts.

So, it's not a bug. But that's too bad.....

It would be great if Cybelink integrated that in a next release.... Jean-Paul

Dear Tony,

I would like to make two remarks:

1) Nowhere, in the user guide, I can found that the secondary menus have always the default length (18 sec.),

2) Nowhere too, it’s noticed that the music generated by Magic music (Smartsound), will always have a duration of the default length (18 sec.), including all menus (Main menu and sub-menus).

So, I cannot understand that this process is a voluntary implementation of the PowerDirector developers….

I think this problem should be transmitted to Cyberlink, if not done at this moment.

Regards. Hi All

Hi Papido -

"Vive l'entraide des utilisateurs" indeed!

The points you make are absolutely correct. The user guide isn't specific at all & doesn't point out the "features" that have been raised in these forums.

1. Menu Music Duration (unless using SmartSound music)
In the Root menu, "regular" music will play for a maximum of 1:20 (that's 80 seconds, not 99). In Scenes/Chapter menu pages, I've never been able to get the duration past 15 seconds*.

2. Regular/SmartSound Music
There is a difference between how "regular" music & SmartSound music behaves in disc menus. That's because, when a SmartSound track is chosen, a temporary .WAV file is generated in PD11_Output Folder\PDRMUSIC.TMP... it's 17 seconds long! I can find no way to change that.

A workaround would be to first produce the SS track to a .WAV file at the duration you want & use that produced file as the menu music.

* Because of the limitations of music duration in menus, I've "made" a series of 15 second tracks that behave a bit like loops - they don't sound chopped off when they repeat themselves. PM me if you'd like them.

You're also right in saying that this menu limitation is something CL R&D should remove, along with the thumbnail duration problem. I am unaware of whether or not this has been communicated to CL.

Cheers - Tony

The "issue" has been raised with R&D a number of times over the years.

Hello Tony,

I agree with your latest post.

I produced with PD11 and Smartsound a 30 seconds wave file for the root menu, and 18 seconds WAV files for the submenus.

The ball is now in the Cyberlink’s court. Hi All
