Anja: I am very sorry to hear of your difficulties. I do recall that you posted a lot of messages in one day awhile back, which might have overwhelmed everybody here.
Your "extra" laptop is DEFINITELY not up to the task of running PD9 so I guess that you (and I) will have to wait for a patch that will fix the SPLIT issue.
I would recommend that you post again, one problem per topic, and provide your dxdiags (again) with each post, and also details of your project and screenshots of your workspace.
Personally, I don't use copy & paste - found it to be unreliable. If I want more than one copy of an image or video cllip, I drag it each time from the media library and haven't had any problems.
I have also occasionally seen where the menu items don't appear unless you cursor over them on my computer. I have always concluded that the problem was me (chair-to-keyboard interface error), pushing the program too hard. I find I have to be patient and let PD9 complete what I have asked it to do, or it can "jam." A reboot and relaunch of PD9 always resolved that problem and I am still learning to slow down.
There was one post where a photo organizer application caused problems. Don't remember the details, but it was conflicting with PD9. I am getting on in years, and I don't recall the user's name. The thread is two or three weeks old I think and you might be able to find it - I think it might have set the record for the most posts, if it is the one my feeble mind is thinking of.
I don't know how long you have had PD9 installed - I thought you purchased it recently. Windows sets Restore Points as do other software applications. If you know the date that you installed PD9, you should be able to do a System Restore back to just before PD9 installed and try installing again, after using CCleaner. There is a "pinned" post on page one of this forum with instructions as to how to go about that.
PD9 is a very complex piece of software and no one is saying your computer is "contaminated." It is just that some applications don't play nice together and can cause problems if they are both on the same machine.
Please don't feel lost. Everyone is here to help. What we need to do, collectively, with your help and info, is tackle each one of your problems, one post at a time, and find solutions. That will require some work from you to help the pros by providing the information that they need.
Keep the faith. We will find solutions. We all want you to enjoy the wonderful world of PD9. Have a great day, Anja.
Regards,
-Phil
