I am correct in saying:
- SW Player: All work
- HW Player: Only the 50p AVCHD Profile burnt on a DVD works. If so can you test copying the contents of the 50p AVCHD DVD onto a BD and see if this will play.

What is you HW Player? PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

I'm guessing, but the Specs for the Pana specifically mention support for AVCHD V2 from DVD and Card (but not BD) so it has no issues with decoding 1080@50p. It may simply be that the logic in the Pana is refusing to play the Video if on BD. You may want to ask on a Pana forum if anyone has gotten 1080@50p on a BD working. I copied the contents of the 50p AVCHD DVD onto a BD and the result is the same both in computer and bd player.

enable hardware decoding when burning AVCHD

What happens if you just take the main M2TS file and try to play it on the BD player?
it will not work

you can check this site for pana bd player please read
http://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/home-entertainment/hdd/dmr-bwt735.specs.html

I will contact pana and find out.

thanks for your help

So this works? You can play a 50p on a BD on your HW Player?

Also try disabling hardware decoding as it can be unreliable for with less "common" formats like 1080/50p and may infact be producing other specifications all together. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

According to the specs your player explicitly supports, AVCHD on DVD and SD Cards, though this does not mean that other combinations will not work... but we have to find out what they may be. It is worth trying various combinations of Media and Project Size, eg:

To Try:
- PD 50p AVCHD Profile on SD Card: Can you test making a small project (under 4.7GB) and a larger on (say 10GB+) and see if either play in the SD Card Slot of your player

In summary so far, I think I'm correct in saying
Works:
- PD 50p AVCHD Profile on DVD: Works but limited to 8.5GB DS or 4.7GB SS

Does not work:
- PD 50p BD Profile on BD
- PD 50p BD Profile on BD with the Header Fix
- Copying the working 50p AVCHD on DVD to a BD (you get the AVCHD V2 warning saying it is not supported).
- Playing the M2TS directly

Thanks
Nathan

Yes your assumption is correct ( when bd plays I can hear the sound of the video but no picture, this is applied to bd profile) hj

- PD 50p AVCHD Profile on SD Card:

I test making a small project under 4.7GB and a larger 10GB+ and it plays fine in pana bd player

Note:

if I use a file larger than 4GB when burning to SD card I have a warning:

this file is being produced on a FAT32 files system, which has a 4GB size limitation for a single file. the production was terminated because the file size limit was reached. so I will not be able to burn.

is there a way to overcome this issue hj

AVCHD was designed to support FAT32 (4GB limit and an 8.3 naming convention), however many will also use exFAT. Can you try formatting your SD card to exFAT and then seeing if it will play? Note: to get around the 4GB limit, the AVCHD spec links multiple M2T(S) files in a the MPL(S) playlists, so I'm surprised if PD does not do this when burning a project...Am I correct in saying:

Works:
- PD 50p AVCHD Profile on SD Card: Works

Does not work:
- PD 50p AVCHD Profile on SD Card: Does not work when one of the source files in PD is above 4GB??? or have I read this wrong. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

This was inregards to the problem you had with your FAT formatted card - Did you try formatting your SD Card to exFAT and then using that to make a project and see if that works in PD (and that it will then play in your BD Player)?

...also for the large project that does play off the SD Card, can you copy them to a BD and see if any will play? PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi
Please reference (link to) this thread rather than post a new question related to your own problem. In my view for example, haj52, you should have started your own New Topic and reference this thread.

If either Andrew or Nathan/jmone (because he's answering) would like this thread locked it can be done.

Dafydd

This is interesting regarding the yet to be released (leaked) BD Spec update and I wonder if that the new header values relate to the HEVC type as I notice that while the spec will allow 1920x1080@50 or 60p it would appear to only be for HEVC encoded content not AVC (but I've only seen this one slide and it could be out of date). If that turns out to be the case my Header Renamer may still be of some use even with new HW players (but we will see over the comming months).
