A quick note on titling in HD Writer to get SVRT to work.

I also found that clipping a few frames from the front of the video will permit SVRT to work (yellow, at least).

Also, you can add a title in HD Writer, then delete it, then save the file. This also works just as well with SVRT with no change in the video.

Thank you for your input. At least we can easily get to the yellow line in PD8, via initial title or clipping a few frames (thought I had tried this but it didn't always work for me). Unfortunately in my tests if I do any editing inserting titles or transitions within PD8 I seem to get some gliches on playback on my panasonic bluray player. Dafydd has stated that R&D accept there is a problem with panasonic clips, so hopefully they will come up with a solution, as they seem to have done with Canon footage.

Hi chaps,

I haven't visited for a while but thought I would see if anything had progressed.

I'd hate to disappoint you but all this was discussed, work around from every angle, passed onto Cyberlink last year with PD7. Nothing eventuated. Cyberlink has had an SD9 sample clip long ago.

I am still waiting for a fix and I might upgrade to PD8 if one is found as PD is a great programme otherwise.

I have some sympathy for Cyberlink as not even panasonic AVCHD files from different cameras are the same! When Sony and panasonic jointly launched the new format I, and I am sure many others, thought it would be a UNIFORM STANDARD FORMAT!

Can't really use PD8 for any editing unless a fix is found, which is a shame, as I also enjoy the feature set and ease of use.

I am also living in hope!

For all my fellow Panasonic SD9 users - a brief update:

I picked up on the TSMuxer hint a while back and for the first time since acquiring the camera have managed to create 'compliant' AVCHD files which play perfectly in my Sony BD player.

I am using TSMuxer AFTER editing and before creating AVCHD DVD or BD Disks.

Now sadly I have had to leave PD8, return to Sony Vegas and perform a full render before the TSMUxer process which defeats the object somewhat but using the Muxer has fixed the jittering and post transition glitches that had always been present previously.

So - Maybe some more expererimentation with TSMuxer might help some of the other users make progress. I have parked PD8 for the moment as the lastest update has not enabled SVRT for the Panasonic as yet. Still hoping that a future update will do the trick. Regards Geoff Pansonic SD9.

If I have read this thread correctly then you are experiencing the same problem I am in regards to burning AVCHD discs using m2ts files that were captured with the pana sd9. The problems are:

Stuttering after a title
Stuttering after photos
Stuttering after transitions.

The issue with SVRT3 I have not fixed as this is beyond my scope.

If I am not mistaken then the problem with stuttering is with "non-clips" in the video track, for eg, photos, colour boards etc. Although I don't understand the why's and wherfores I have found a temporary bandade so try this.

Shoot in the dark for approx 5 seconds, or alternatively a black board,
create your m2ts file with HD Writer, import this black film into PDs video track instead of a colour board then apply your title underneath in the title track. In regrads to your photos you will need to place the black film in the video track and add your photos to the pip track and resize. Your transitions should also now work with no stuttering.

Please have a go and see what you come up with as I am keen to fix this one.

I'll give this a try shortly. Out of interest have you taken a look at TSMuxer at all?

If you create your AVCHD without using your workaround but then run the file through TSMuxer I think it might remove the glitches you have been experiencing.

I think the issue has something to do with the fps timing markers being encoded at transition points etc.

TXSmuxer is a free download so maybe worth a try. I'll post an update after trying your fix but I'll have to install HDWriter - haven't bothered with that recently.

Further testing on this one produced the following

Because I filmed my "Black Board" in the dark it produced some noise so I tried to reduce the brightness on the colour board by selecting Fix/Enhance - Colour Adjustment - Brightness sliding to the far left. But only on some of my colour boards. There was stuttering only on the clips immediately after the colour boards I enhanced and not after the colour boards I didn't touch.

Also I am getting stuttering on clips that I split and applied slow motion to, this would confirm your notion on fps problem.

Also as an interesting note, I burnt my PD created file to disk using Nero and there was not stuttering at all. Thanks for the tip on TSMuxer but I haven't tried it yet as I am hopeful that PD will get this sorted out.
