Can Anyone Recommend a Good Laptop?

Hey all,

I do not want a recommendation for a specific make and model so much. Rather I am looking for a recommendation on a good CPU, how much memory, etc. to run PowerDirector 18 or 365?

RIght now I'm using a very old Dell running Windows 10 and using PowerDirector 15. It barely works. It's slow, locks up and is frustrating but it works. My work load has changed so I'll need a new laptop that is able to run 18 or 365.

I usually buy used laptops that are one or two years old at the time. My parents were raised in the depresssion and it got passed down to me. That's my budget.

Any ideas?

Mark

yeah.
my recommendations for a good laptop and or a desktop has been New PC for video editing; advice sought. and Minimum System Requirements PowerDirector 16.

what you got now? cpu and gpu...
what is your budget? can you afford $300-350 range??? then you can still purchase the Dell Precision M4700 15.6" FHD i7 3840QM 16GB NVIDIA BACKLIT Windows 10 Pro. at eBay. i'd offer $285.00 and see what the seller would reply...

i got my M6700 at $250. running windows 7 pro 64bit and windows 10 pro(free upgrade).
if you like 17" then Dell Workstation M6700 Core i7-3840QM 2.8GHz 16GB 500GB HDD Precision w/ Win 10.

just remember these are about 5-7 years old. me? i wouldn't pay more than $325.00...

happy happy joy joy

Don't waste money on a laptop. And then come here asking why the GPU doesn't work with PowerDirector...

Get a former workstation, Dell, HP... cheap and effective.

I use the laptop plugged into an external keyboard and monitor.

Sager laptops do not have the limitations with the gpu mentioned. See this post: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/76926.page#314802 . Clevo is sold under different brand names for high end gaming without this limitation too. Do your homework.

PepsiMan I still do just fine with my Dell workstation/laptom refurb that you suggested to me a few years ago. I run PD16 still and it works fine ! For a hobbiest on a budget its perfect. This is more a thank you than a testimonial since I am not going near 18 or 365. ____________________________________
