Playback issue

Hi, I was using the program without issue, making a holiday video. I'm up to an 1hr 6 mins currently. As of last night everything was just fine and the playback was absolutely great throughout. I turn on my pc today and it won't playback even on the lowest resolution. It's choppy and lagging and out of sync with the music, so I cant edit any further.

I decided to delete my unused tracks, and obviously lower the playback quality, I have pre-rendered some of the more intensive clips, unchecked hardware acceleration and ticked it again but nothing helps. I've closed the program and restarted, done a defrag and a general clean/scan but to no avail. I've even hoovered out the dust from the internal PC, no help!

What's wrong guys? The computer is running fine and nothing has changed only the programs not working. I'm at my witts end with this, I have litterally put around 100 hrs into this video trying to make it special for my children to look back on fondly.

Thanks for any help!

What are the resolution and fps settings for your imported files, and what is your TL framerate set to in Settings? Also, are you using Shadow Files?

Hello, thanks for your response. My footage was shot at 4k 30fps and the TL framerate is at 25, the shadow files are enabled. I've had a mess with some settings but got the same results, I don't really know what i'm doing though. Thanks again.

In order to handle a 4K project of that duration, your computer would need to be a high end rig. I would also match the fps in your TL to be 30fps. When you produce a 'range' of your project, is the end result correct and in sync?

Since the program worked well before you shut it down but didn't when you restarted, have you check for program updates? Windows had 3 in March, one of which "improved" how updates were installed for W10 computers with low disc space. If this installed, then perhaps earlier updates were installed also.

Check also your antivirus, drivers for your video card/chip, etc.

Also please post the text file from a dxdiag.exe evaluation of your computer. Go here and scroll down for instructions. .

Thank you so much for trying to help me out, I'm close to tears with this. I have just updated my AMD GPU driver and software, My Anti Virus is up to date as well.

I've tried opening a new project and importing my problem project into it, hoping it would refresh somehow but it's still the same. Is there any work around like this I could try?

I thought maybe produce the video with what I've got so far, and then open a new project and finish off the video separately; then merge the two???

I have attached the DxDiag file for you to have a look at,

Thanks again, it's much appreciated you taking the time to help me out.

Scroll down to near the end to see the following. There are more like a VLC error that I won't address.

Your dxdiag shows a lot of GPUTweakII.exe crashes. When I looked that up, I see that it should not be the cause. Read this.
Do you have the TODO program on your computer? If not, you MAY have a virus.

The one that bugs me is the CLR20r3 error. I can't find much that is directly applicable. The only thing is that it may be related to Microsoft's .net (dotNet). You may want to try to reinstall the recent version or do a repair on Power Director since it should have the right version.

Did you update the video driver before, after,or during the problem.

Good luck.

I found something that may help.

Hi, thanks for the help! I have ridden my system of malware and even got rid of the sneaky AutoKMS issue. I unistalled Power Director and installed it once again. I still have the same issue, the problem is however a little different to what I thought. It actually wont work now for new projects and any of my old projects? I thought it was just the project I was working on.

Hmm. You should probably open a ticket with Cyberlink Tech Support from this page, as they have the appropriate resources to better assess the situation, and can even log on to your system remotely (with your permission, of course) to troubleshoot the problem.

In the meantime, can you run the DxDiag test again and attach the new results here? After you've run the test, take a look at the first 2 items on this page and see if either of them will solve the issue. The 3rd option may be required, and if that's the case you'll need to decide whether to wait for tech support to give things a try first or go ahead and reset Win10.

If you do that, you'll definitely want to choose the option that saves all of your personal files. Just to be 100% certain, you should also back up the folder(s) where your PD projects and all related video clips are stored, along with the My Documents, My Videos, etc. system folders.

The whole point here is to get PD back up and running for you, and nothing I've seen so far indicates that any of your existing projects are in jeopardy. That's the way we want to keep things!
