In every other audio or video editor I've ever used, there is one button that stops playback where you are. Another button stops playback and takes you back to the position you started playback from. Yet another button takes you back to the beginning of the project. PD does not seem to have the option that stops playback and takes you back to the position you started from. I am baffled by this lack of function, and I'm finding that it's cramping my workflow in a major way. Please tell me if I'm somehow missing how to accomplish this function, or if it really isn't there, how do you deal with this scenario:
I need to decide where to start a clip. I click in the general area I want to start and press play. Oops, I need a little more time before the dialogue starts. Go back to where I started from and back up a bit. Still not quite enough time before dialogue, go back to where I started and back up a bit. That was good. Go back to where I started from and split there.
This trial and error to zero in on a cut point is quick and easy when I can press a button and go back to my playback start point. If you can't do this in PD, what do you do so that your workflow isn't cumbersome?
Thank you for any suggestions,
Seth
