Setting In Point on a Clip

I've been needing a new video editor for a long time. After doing a lot of research PD seemed like it was the way to go, so I pulled the trigger and am now in the process of figuring it out. This one is tying me in knots right now:

In every other audio or video editor I've ever used, there is one button that stops playback where you are. Another button stops playback and takes you back to the position you started playback from. Yet another button takes you back to the beginning of the project. PD does not seem to have the option that stops playback and takes you back to the position you started from. I am baffled by this lack of function, and I'm finding that it's cramping my workflow in a major way. Please tell me if I'm somehow missing how to accomplish this function, or if it really isn't there, how do you deal with this scenario:

I need to decide where to start a clip. I click in the general area I want to start and press play. Oops, I need a little more time before the dialogue starts. Go back to where I started from and back up a bit. Still not quite enough time before dialogue, go back to where I started and back up a bit. That was good. Go back to where I started from and split there.

This trial and error to zero in on a cut point is quick and easy when I can press a button and go back to my playback start point. If you can't do this in PD, what do you do so that your workflow isn't cumbersome?

Thank you for any suggestions,
Seth

Hi Seth, the 'Precut' feature allows you to do all of that. You right click on your clip in the Media Room and select 'Precut'. A new window opens that allows you to set an in and out point, to frame by frame advance backwards and forwards, drag the clip backwards and forwards, play your clip, and if you have the 'Output' button selected, hitting the stop button will take you back to your marked in point rather than the start of the unmarked clip. Pressing the spacebar will stop the clip where you are, and pressing it again will resume playback. Precut can be used to set multiple in and out points on a long clip, and it creates individual, edited clip files for you to transfer those clips to the TL. It names those files Precut0001,0002,0003 etc. You can right click on them, select 'Change Alias' and rename them. I hope this helps.

Adding to what TDK1044 showed
See picture, Play / Pause 1-touch button, Play again, Pause ...
Stop button by default back to the beginning of the project
To return to the beginning of the Clip, cursor must be on the clip, Stop button or Clip / Stop
Use the Split button to create a start position for new clip
