Hi,
You face 2 possible issues:
- the standard FAT32 format for sd cards has a file limit of 4Gb
[https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/what-is-the-maximum-file-size-fat-fat32-ntfs-file/1663db6b-490e-4021-9e36-f7a6976ac0c0]
So, for the future, you could check if the camera can use an sd card formatted under NTSC,
- the camera might have a 4Gb record limit to preserve compatability.

in which case, nothing to be done, I'm afraid.
For your current issue:
Using something like mpeg streamclip to join the clips might give a better result, but it may not be perfect.
Personally, when I cannot avoid such things, I cover the problem with either a transition or a piece of "stock" video recorded earlier just in case. So, live concert in church, somebody drops the music score, but the sound is OK - cover the video with a fade in/out to a stained glass window (or whatever). More difficult with continuous audio that has gone missing, but I have often just used another (old) camera for the audio recording then cut and paste as appropriate!.
Cheers
Adrian
