I wanted to burn a DVD and it seems like I can't get pass the 2D burn button on create disk. I have no idea what's going on. It does not do anything when clicked. I have tried an external DVD as well and nothing happened. I was able to burn disks before and suddenly this just doesn't work Any advice?
I'm running I7 4 core win 7.

Francis:

Welcome to the CL Forum. Sorry to hear that you are having PD12 issues with burning a DVD. Not sure why you would have been successful previously, but now can't get PD12 to burn to disk. Could it be that this project is larger or more complex?

Will it burn to folder instead? Uncheck burn to disk and check burn to folder and then use a product like Power2Go or Imgburn to burn the folder to a disk.

I took a look at your dxdiag. Your onboard graphics card has only 64 MB of dedicated video RAM, which is below minimum specs. Also with only 6 GB of system RAM, you are running with a minimum of system RAM on a 64-bit OS, which PD12 will chew up because there is not sufficient VRAM.

I am wondering: can you burn a simple project using just the default media that comes with PD12? If you can, then I am suspicious that your platform is running out of resources. Please try that and report back.

The minimum specs for PD12 Deluxe can be found here:

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-deluxe/spec_en_CA.html?&r=1

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Regards,
-Phil

Thanks for the reply. I have done a similar project the las time and was able to burn it. the project is a total of 25 minutes of video. The videos used have already been rendered to an MPEG file. I will try out your recommendations and send out an update tonight. thanks Phil!!

Francis: Sorry to hear that the test was not successful. I am still concerned about your only 64 MB of video RAM. You should make sure that you have the latest version of QT installed.

Are you able to burn DVDs at all with any other program? I ask only because it might be a DVD hardware or driver issue. You should rule that out.

If you can burn, then obviously it is an issue with resources OR your PD12 installation has become corrupted. It might be necessary to thoroughly remove PD12 and then reinstall. I had issues with missing menu templates that was solved by a reinstall. I know it's a pain, but I don't know what else to suggest. Revo Uninstaller is a good program for getting everything out.

Hope this helps and let us know how you make out. Have a great day.

A year ago I made DVD's all the time with PD12, now it won't work. It's starts to render and freezes at 24% every time; even after over 10 hours of run time. I had issues in the past with making movies during the final production phase and I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling and disregarding any updates. At least the original version worked.

sarath6:

I would recommend that you post in the PowerDirector 16 Forum. This is an almost four-year old thread, relating to PD14.

There are more people in the PD16 Forum, which is what you say that you have.

Welcome to the PD Forums, by the way.

Have a great day.

Bo.
PD 12 needs about 12-16GB RAM and 60-100GB virtual memory HD space to work optimally... so that's another thing to be concerned with. ensure that your HD doesn't get filled up. i don't usually update the program when everything works in my PCs; however, my PD 12Ultimate is on b3403. i don't care about loading to YouTube through PD...

try disabling HA(hardware acceleration, you can uncheck it at PREFERENCE wheel and on FINAL OUTPUT) whenever burning to a DvD and or Blu-ray disc.

edit:
good lord.
you don't have any C:\ hd space for number one! need to free up 60-100GB hd space. two, you need at least extra 4GB RAM or 8GB RAM to total 12GB! three, your cpu(i3-2100 3674) is way too slow even though you meet the minimum spec pc... hence your pain meter is very very high!!!

here's my recommendations for a pc or a laptop for video editing;

# what is the best computer for video editing spec:

CPU - fastest, what you can afford without breaking the bank.
avoid intel cpus with single suffixes ix-xxxx U / M to name a few at all cost! also avoid AMD APU.
if in doubt then check it out at cpubenchmark.net .

CPU cpubenchmark score ≥8000 / 1920x1080 FHD; ≥10000 / 3840x2160 4K.
Memory ≥16GB RAM 2400MHz
GPU with ≥2GB VRAM; speed check it out at cpubenchmark ≥5000. (update 4/4/17) (GTX 1050Ti 2GB)
Best NVMe M.2 SSD -> http://www.pcgamer.com/best-nvme-ssds/ ≥ 500GB
Best SATA III SSD -> http://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-ssd-for-gaming/ ≥ 500GB
HDD -> 7200RPM 128MB cache 6G SATA III 1TB or bigger...

this is my recommendations and will serve you very well for a long time and a lot less pain.
