Hi - me again! Yes I'm a newbie, I only installed PD11 at the weekend so early days

I'm capturing VHS video via a Hauppauge WinTV 885 video capture card. I've successfully captured 2 tapes but on the third I'm getting "This movie is copyright-protected. Recording is prohibited". It starts recording then the message comes up after about 10 minutes but not always in exactly the same place.

The picture is quite good so I don't think its tape quality.

Help please. PowerDirector 12 Build 2420
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit
Dell Studio XPS 7100 AMD Phenom II x6 1035T 2.6Ghz with 8 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5770 video card graphics card
Hauppauge Colossus capture card and "Capture" software

Try Windows Movie Maker for capture, if it can function with the Hauppage. WMM often works when others don't. As for WHY, it could be anything on the tape, try a search here, it's not an uncommon issue. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

Or the bug in the software could be fixed. That's why we don't bake programs into chips anymore, so flaws can be corrected. Any PD developers ever check this forum?

To see if someone is posting about bugs in years-old software? No.

If this is happening in PD16 or 17/365, then please start a new thread and follow the steps in Read Me Before Posting sticky thread at the top of the appropriate forum. You may also submit a support ticket to get help from Cyberlink directly.
