Where can one find CLCleaner (the CyberLink version for PD10)? Previous posts seem to only reference Version 9.

The CLcleaner at the above link should work, I do not think Dafydd has re-written the infomation.

The latest CLcleaner for PD9 should work just as well on PD 10.

One way to find out is download and run it.

If you can then install Powerdirector where you could not before, it worked.

Carl312, you are a good guy and I thank you. My fear is any fallout from the program modifying registry keys in error. But, I trust Dafydd and will give CLCleaner a try. I will report back. :

CLCleaner Results

1. Uninstalled PD10 successfully.
2. Ran CLCleaner-PDR7.0-9.0.exe successfully.

3. Reinstalled PD10 successfully. "Create Disc" functioned as it should.
4. Attempted to install Patch 1012 (CyberLink.1012_GM2_Patch_VDE110926-01.exe). Received the following windows:

5. Ran CLCleaner again (what the heck).
6. Installed Patch 1129a successfully.

So, I am back where I started with PD10 running as it did before, and "Create Disc" crashing as it did before.

Apparently this "Crash Disc" issue is happening to only a select few of us, or perhaps just me. But, at least I have an alternative program for authoring DVD's and Blu-ray. Just the same, this must be frustrating for everyone who is trying to help resolve this. I am humbly grateful.

Thank you for the explanation and screen shots.

Maybe Dafydd can help.

Hi Bill,
This week an newer update patch for PD10 is to be released.... maybe beginning of next week. I would suggest re-testing with the newer build after it has been released and installed. There have been a number of issues reported with 1129a and it does need to be replaced.

I'm concerned you may be messing up your registry with the use of the earlier CLCleaner build and the subsequent error messages you're getting does point to that. You may need to go in and clean up your registry, with a specialist cleaner tool. Your call.

Ahhh, the very thing I had feared. Okay, what do you suggest, what do I need, where do I get it and what is the procedure? So many questions from a person in panic!

I also got an e-mail from Jean Lan at CyberLink Technical Support requesting remote access to my computer. OMG, what hath I wrought?

Bill,

I can't offer any help with your situation as I am a babe in the woods concerning PD 10. But I appreciate your approach in attempting to solve the problem. You demonstrate the patience of Job and are dealing with it in a professional manner.

And congratulations on your business. I checked out your website. Very nice.

Dave, thank you so much for your kind comments. It's the senior contributors of this forum who truly deserve a round of praise for their patience. I too suffer from frustration and exasperation, but having an attitude does little to help matters. Having perspective does, after all it is not life or death. I would rather have a $100 application give me an occasional fit than a $600 one. And I have suffered with the latter many times. The big players in the video market are prone to their own set of issues.

For me, having alternative applications fills in the gaps when the main one gets cantankerous. We all would like one program to do it all, but that is not reality. In fact, using a piece of this and part of that seems to yield me the best results, and it is that proprietary combination that gives me an edge.

Thanks for taking the time to write. Happy New Year to your too. Bill Spicer

If CyberLink Tech Support is that interested, I would say go ahead and let them do it. That's a lot better than many of the responses people have gotten. Jerry Schwartz

Jerry is right. Jean is waiting with R&D at CyberLink to examine and check the situation out.

Patch 1129b does not resolve "Create Disc" crashing issue.

Here is what I did:

1. Uninstalled PD10 from the Control Panel.
2. Ran CLCleaner2-PowerDirector_10.0.exe.
3. Re-installed PD10 (original build 1005). Clicked "Create Disc" and it functioned as it should.
4. Installed Patch 1129b. Clicked "Create Disc" and PD10 crashed followed by the "CyberLink Issue Reporter" window.

Dafydd and Jerry: I am contemplating allowing Jean and CyberLink R&D remote access to my machine. But, would anybody blame me for being nervous about security with a remote connection from Taiwan?

Hi Bill,
I understand the reluctance to allow 3rd party access - I really do.

What are your options and your user specific issue?
1. Run a registry cleaner - get rid of the rubbish. "CCleaner (CrapCleaner)" is one.
2. Look for a trojan - you may have one.
3. Wipe your C hard drive and reinstall everything, start fresh.
4. Allow CyberLink R&D staff to have a poke and prod - just clarify that the door they're opening can be slammed shut asap.

FYI I have been chatting to CL about your issue and the option they've offered, which are genuine and above board.

Dafydd, here is where we are:

1. Run a registry cleaner - get rid of the rubbish. "CCleaner (CrapCleaner)" is one.
- I downloaded and ran CCleaner (CrapCleaner). Straightforward and did its job.
- I uninstalled PD10.
- I then ran CLCleaner2-PowerDirector_10.0.exe.
- I re-installed PD10. Clicked "Create Disc" and it functioned as it should.
- I installed Patch 1129b. Clicked "Create Disc" and PD10 crashed again followed by the "CyberLink Issue Reporter" window.

Dafydd, as far as the remaining options you suggested, below are my thoughts:

2. Look for a Trojan - you may have one.
- I am extremely careful, run a robust antivirus program, scan regularly and the definitions are kept up to date.

3. Wipe your C hard drive and reinstall everything, start fresh.
- No, a total overkill.

4. Allow CyberLink R&D staff to have a poke and prod.
- No, too risky and the outcome is not assured.

This is a case where the cure might be worse than the disease. I do not use Create Disc, and instead rely on other disc authoring software. So, since I can live without it, I choose to quit while I am ahead.

I thank you Dafydd for all your attention to this matter. But, I am sure you appreciate my caution. I will write and thank Jean Lan for the offer, but will graciously decline.

I've had to re-build my PC recently and I have EXACTLY the same problem - CREATE DISC does not. It crashes.

What is unique is that it crashes even when there is no content in the project ! Opening PD10 and going directly to "create disc" generates an immediate CRASH.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have discovered an small flaw in PD10 UPGRADE version. If one re-instals PD10 (like I did because of a system problem) without having PD9 installed first then the problem noted above will occur. The solution is to fully install PD9 first and then UPGRADE to PD10. I suspect the issue is related to the licensing of BD and AVCHD burning but cannot confirm that.

HDedit, you're my guy

I had the same issue, could'nt install a patch since build 1020. PD10 Crashes.

But now - with your resolution it works well. I deinstall PD10 (Upgrade), install PD9 and then PD10 again with newest Patch 1703. Works Great. Many Thanks !!!

I'm having the exact same problem as the OP. Down to the letter.

I do not have PowerDirector 9. Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? I use the Create-A-Disc function ALL of the time, and this problem is holding back progress.

Thanks to any who could help.

SPICERPR0,

Powerdirector 10 Build 1129b is 4 updates behind the current update.

http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector-ultra/patches_en_US.html

The current build is PowerDirector 10 build 2231. Which fixes the Nvidia 'Rendering' problem.
