Problems with Ver 11

Last night i upgraded from Ver 10 to Ver 11.

PowerDVD 10 plays my BD's fine, but Ver 11 has problems.

With Ver 11, after about minutes of viewing the picture gets Pixelated and shreds. If I move my mouse the problem goes away. Installed Patch 2114 and got the same issue.

I Re-installed Ver 10 and no problems.

Any ideas? I looked at AERO, but the the option to turn it off in PowerDVD is not active. Thanks,
Bill

Hi,
you may refer to the knowon issues list - there are FOX titles showing the mentioned symptoms:

Thanks Michael, I'm not sure what to do.
The movie I was watching was the Blue-Ray re-release of Star Wars.
I don't think that's Fox....haven't checked...

Ver 11 has better video quality than ver 10, but ver 10 (without the patch) runs all my BD's without problems.

PowerDVD is installed on my HTPC which is in the living room for the entire family to use.
I replaced my broken BD Player with this HTPC, so I need a Plug and Play device that the whole family can use.

Under these circumstances I'll run Ver 10.
However, I did enjoy the better video quality of Ver 11.

Will issues like these be resolved in subsequent releases?
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Michael,
I have a similar issue in PDVD Ultra 11, but with the UK (Region B) release of "Predator 2". It's also a Fox title.

I've just bought the Predator Trilogy box set on Blu-ray. Discs 1 and 3 (Predator and Predators) had pixellation issues, but the latest update to 2114 seems to have resolved those, as far as I can see.

However, disc 2 - Predators 2 - won't play at all, and brings up a Fox info screen saying that my player needs an update to be able to play the disc. The disc plays in Nero 10, so it's not the disc alone that's the problem. I searched this forum, but found no reference to Predators 2.

I assume it's going to need an update from Cyberlink. How do I raise this with development, please, so that this title can be included in any evaluation/update that's being prepared?

Also - if you are running an ATI graphics card the latest Catalyst drivers, ver 11.9, have fixed most,
if not all, my play-back issues.
Thanks,
Bill

OK, no, it didn't work. I'm still getting the "upgrade your firmware" error when trying to play Predators 2.

And now I've got a new problem. The "Region" on the player now is set to A, and it's marked as having no changes left to me, so the option is greyed out. But I've never changed it since my first installation, so I definitely haven't used up my changes. And it's locked to Region A, but all my discs are Region B, so now *nothing* will play!!

I'm not a happy camper.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your interest. :

I've already opened a question with support. The case ID is CS001067848.

I'm pretty sure the Level 1 tech who responded didn't understand what I was asking - he seems to have misunderstood my saying it wouldn't play that one BD (which I mentioned in the hope that it would get forwarded to the development team for consideration in any coming patch) and has somehow got the impression that PDVD won't play anything, and had me running BD Advisor and DXDiag. He's made no reference at all to the region setting issue.

In the meantime, I think the problem PDVD has playing that specific disc is a DRM issue. I tried launching the disc with AnyDVD running, and it played without a hitch. (Until the 1:26:38 mark, where it freezes. I think that's an encoding glitch.)

I'm saying all this just to give you an idea of where it's up to at the moment.

But again, sincere thanks for your help, mate.

Hi Michael,
Yes, I have already installed the most recent patch. "About" tells me I'm running version 11.0.2211.53.

I've tried uninstalling, and running the "Clean" tool that you put in a FAQ post for PDVD 11, and then re-installing, but it hasn't made any difference. When I rebooted and ran PDVD11 again, the region code setting for Blu-rays was still set to Ragion A and locked. This is a disaster for me, because I live in Region B, and any of my discs that aren't specifically region-free now won't play.

I'm also finding that PDVD locks up very, very often. Even when I can get it to close, it leaves three processes - powerdvd.exe, powerdvd11.exe and powerdvdcox11.exe - still running. I have to either kill them manually in Task Manager, or reboot my PC, before PDVD will launch again.

Mate, I'm really, really unhappy with this upgrade.

I noticed that the uninstallation and "Clean" still left some parts behind - a Cyberlink folder still in %USERNAME%/AppData/Roaming, for instance, and keys left in the Registry.

Is there some sort of script or executable available that will clean out the installation completely?

OK Michael, thanks for forwarding the question to the team. As I said, I already asked about the region code problem in the tech issue I opened, but I don't think the bloke handling the issue actually understands what I'm asking. It gets frustrating when that happens.

About my environment:

* Full commercial version of PDVD 11 Ultra
* Bought from the Cyberlink website
* Have SR, but not happy to post it in an open forum
* Ditto TR Number
* OS = Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* Running as Administrator (only account on PC)
* CPU: Intel i5 760 @ 2.8 GHz
* Graphics: ATI Radeon 5700, latest driver (ver. 8.850)
* Audio: Realtek Hi-Def 7.1, latest driver (ver. 6.0.1.6194)
* Audio setting: TrueTheater Surround
* ODD: Samsung SH-B083L ATA
* Display: Samsung SyncMaster EX2220X (single display)
* Display connection: HDMI
* Display rate: 60 Hz @ 32-bit
* 3D settings: not used
* Antivirus: Avira Internet Security 2012
* Browser: Firefox 7.01, IE 9

I find that PDVD11 makes my C: drive and CPU race as well, whether I enable or disable the Hardware acceleration settings for video.

Whoa. How frustrating is tech support? Taken three days to reply to me, just to ask for a screen capture of the PDVD region settings dialog.

I've already told them what it says, so what's this about?

Hi,

> Have SR, but not happy to post it in an open forum

SR is NOT the CD-Key, the SR is a identifier so I can see which exact build you use (it is unique for the build not the user!)

Please also post your DXDIAG log file as asked in the must have read thread.
thanks

I'm trying to reply, but I keep getting a "This page cannot be displayed" error. Is it just too much text?
[Post New]
Does that tell you what you need, Michael? I can't post any more of it - the webpage keeps giving me an error. I have no idea why.
