I have both PD18 and PD365 installed on my computer.

When I download a title, it gets installed into PD18. Even if I download it in PD365, it still goes to PD18.

How do I get the Effect Extractor to install my downloads into PD365?

Thanks,
Fred

All titles should be downloaded to a common folder and should appear in all versions of PD. See this discussion for more info.

Have you checked the Downloaded folder in the Title Room in PD365?

I read that discussion before I posted, as it didn't solve my problem.

When I look at C:\Users\Public\Cyberlink\Downloaded Titles, it has my downloaded title in it. But it does not display in PD365 (it does in PD1.

How do I get PD365 to show the titles from this folder?

Thanks,
Fred

Try uninstalling PD365. You can do that with the Windows uninstaller tool or by right -clicking on it in the CL App Manager. You won't lose any files or settings, and when it reinstalls it should find all the content in the shared folder and show it in the appropriate library.

Sounded like a great idea, but, sadly, had no effect.

I had Explorer find all the places titles can be, and it came up with:
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/8.0/MyTitles
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/10.0/MyTitles
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/12.0/MyTitles
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/13.0/MyTitles
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/18.0/MyTitles
Documents/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/21.0/MyTitles
Program Files/Cyberlink/PowerDirector18/Titles
Program Files/Cyberlink/PowerDirector21/Titles
Users/fhsmi/AppData/Local/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/13.0
Users/fhsmi/AppData/Roaming/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/13.0
Users/fhsmi/AppData/Roaming/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/18.0
Users/fhsmi/AppData/Roaming/Cyberlink/PowerDirector/21.0
Users/Public/Cyberlink/Downloaded Titles

Obviously I've had PD too long, and it's not very good at uninstalling everything.

I changed Titles in PD21 to TitlesX, and had some success. It still won't find all my titles, but when I imported a dzt file, it put it in the Public folder, and is now accessible to my project.

As I don't have a PD exe file prior to 18.0, I expect I can just delete the 8.0 to 13.0 folders.

My question is: can I just move the title folders I want from 18.0 to Public?

Thanks,
Fred

The first 8 links you typed in above are reserved for custom titles created and saved in that particular version of PD. The last link you typed is where DirectorZone downloaded titles are placed to be available for all versions of PD.

Later versions of PD can use the custom titles which are available from earlier versions of PD.

That's a great theory, and would be nice if it worked in practice.

I've come to the conclusion that upgrading PD makes no sense. I'm going back to PD18 where at least my custom titles are available, and it can find the downloads.

Why Cyberlink made upgrading so hard on users, I'll never know. But it's their business.

Thanks for all your replies,
Fred

I agree that the upgrades are sometimes very hard. This is also because CL tried to keep the software downwards compatible, so that we can use custom titles (etc.) from previous versions. My system was also struggling with the upgrades, and I had to reinstall PD a number of times to get it right, when moving to a new computer.
CL saves the custom titles (etc.) in documents, so I made sure that I restored a copy of these in the proper place for the installation program to find them, BEFORE I installed the CL suite.
But, PD also maintains some sort of inventory of the custom and other titles. As you showed the titles and other items are stored in many places, so the challenge for PD is to keep track of them AND make sure that at program start they are available in reasonable time (which time has improved but is not always fast enough).
Apparently this database is maintained and updated triggered by files or folders and their date-time stamps, or the like. What I have found out is, that the following steps helped me getting the custom titles to correctly “display” again:
- Make a copy of all the Cyberlink folders in your documents folder.
- Uninstall PD and say Yes to delete all user information (or words to that effect).
- Before you (re- )install or upgrade PD, make sure that the folders of all previous versions of PD are in the proper place in the documents folder.
- But also make sure that the 21 folder (which is the number of the version to be installed) is not present. Put it aside allowing the installation software to create this folder.
- After installation start the program and let it take its time to get all the items listed in the various rooms. Close the program and move the set aside titles you may have from version 21 into the documents folder next to the folders of previous versions. Then restart PD again, and (in my case) all custom titles (etc.) were available again.
It worked for me, hope this works for you too.
