Chronic corrupted saves issue

Hello all,

I tend to download tons of stock footage for my videos, and it seems like something relating to that may be corrupting my project saves. I have two hard drives, and I switched my save spot to a different hard drive than the one the Powerdirector is installed on (for space reasons).

This issue has gotten much worse since I made the switch. I think it will help to reinstall Powerdirector on the larger hard drive with the larger size. Is there an easy way to do this besides uninstalling and reinstalling? And is there an easy way to transfer over my favorites and custom titles etc?

Also, My program does tend to freeze as the program is loading at peak times. It is only a second or two usually. I am upgrading the RAM, which should fix that I think. I have 16GB of RAM on a pretty new computer that is good in all other ways, and the recommended is at least 8GB.

Also, I do edit with music playing on YouTube through Chrome. Is there any reason that would corrupt saves? It didn't have an issue when everything was on the same hard drive.

I appreciate you all! Thanks for the help!

Hi,

When you say "corrupting my project saves" what do you mean? Does the issue affect any autosave files or just manually saved projects.

Can you look at these guides and post as much info as you can so members can assist better?

Re-installing might well be beneficial to enable PDR to take advantage of any changed system configuration, say Win updates, driver updates etc but may not help if you have a hardware/compatibility issue.

A forum search will help with the issue of moving custom titles etc. Here's a couple of examples:

Thanks for the help!

Everything looks normal as I continue to work, but when I try to recall the project later it brings the project up as completely empty. There is a small size to the save file still. It does happen to auto saves as well. The first time it happened recently, I had to go through auto saves until the 5th or 6th one wasn't empty.

I finished my most recent project by "packing the project" over and over again to an external hard drive and another internal hard drive. Packing the project reveals when it is corrupted because it completes the transfer way too fast and by showing a progression of the transer that is way too short. Then I check the new packaged projects, and corrupted ones are empty besides the Powerdirector save file itself. The same issue happens when uploading it to the cloud storage as well.

I was able to do a lot of adding crops/zooms and other normal editing stuff without issue(saves and packing went fine). I have noticed the corruption problem happens about 50% of the time when dealing with importing/downloading stock video content and then putting it on the timeline. Sometimes I reload from a previous save, and use the exact same stock video footage, and then it saves perfectly fine again. So it appears to me that it is something hard drive and file transfer related.

I am going to install some more RAM, change the installation to my other hard drive, and hopefully everything will be fixed. If you have any more suggestions I'd love to hear them! I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks,

Brian
