Thanks for the help.
I increased C drive to give me more than 100GB free and it worked a treat.

interestingly though. I did install this into D drive which had more than 300GB free.

So now its working fine I'm wondering is it worthwhile upgrading to PD10.
That's what i was leaning towards as the problem which is why i included the space in my post. But 23Gb isn't enough to create a 3GB movie. WOW.
Is there any setting to tell PD to use the D drive or am i going to have to expand C.

BTW, so far your response has been way more helpful than Cyberlinks who have given me a whole bunch of crap suggestions. uninstalling other burning software and turning off Zone Alarm, etc

I'll look for setting options or increase my c drive.
Thanks,
Hi there.
I'm having trouble burning a disk I keep getting an error message

Burning unsuccessful
not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

I have a blank DVD in the drive and the program shows only 3202Mb/4700Mb is needed. I even tried with a Dual layer disk and still got the error.
My HDD has 833GB free and C drive has 23GB free.

I'm using Power director 8.0 running win7(32bit)

I've had issues in the past burning disks with PD and i don't think i have ever successfully burnt one with this program. In the past I have taken the produced files and used the very bad editing program that came with my SONY camcorder "Imagemixer" it was at least useful enough to be able to create a disk with several of the produced files. and create a menu system etc.

However, that program is so old that it will not even run on Windows 7 so i can't resort to that anymore and need PD to be able to do it.
I've submitted a question to Cyberlink but hoped I would get more speedy response here.

cheers.
Thanks for the replies.

Not sure if reading the trheads helped or triggered an idea but i solved my problem. I think i read something about menu problems, etc

It turns out the burn process was just having issues with Menu Template 2.
I used Menu template 5 and it works.

Just for the sake of it i went back and tried it again with template 2 and sure enough it failed.. What the.....
Hi There,
I'm new to PD8 and have been having fun with it. I just tried to burn a DVD and keep getting an error message.
MotionMenuGenerator.exe has encountered an error....etc.

It happens every time at 15% and then just stops.

My DVD is a Sony DVD RW AW-G170A. I been banging away at this for an hour now but admit i haven't scanned this forum yet. Any quick hints as to what's going wrong would be great.

Not sure what other info might be useful. Running XP

thanks,
Quote: I downloaded the Powerdirector 8 Trial Version, created a movie, decided i like the program, so i bought the Ultra Version, Uninstalled the Trial, Installed the Ultra Version, now i still have the CyberLink PowerDirector Trial Version at the first of my movie, any way to get rid of this without redoing the whole project?

yes there is. I did the same thing.
The Power director trial message is a Title in the title track. it may be off the page at the bottom. scroll down highlight it and just delete it.

took me a while tp figre that out too.
