Thanks this works, just wondering what the best settings are for handbrake to use in powerdirector.
I tried using preset 1080p/30 fast / mp4
video encoder h.264 / x264
frame rate fps 60
constant quality 22
constant frame rate

Smartphone footage with highly variable frame rates has always been a weak point for PDR, which seems much happier with constant frame rate clips.
By way of testing, could you take a clip which normally shows the problem on splitting, run it through Handbrake or Shutter Encoder or similar converter to produce a constant frame rate version of the clip, and then see if that CFR clip shows the same issues?
There's quite a few posts on the forum about VFR clips, like this one for example

When splitting a video file and filling the gap between clips, everytime when a new clip starts there is a audio delay, this only happens when splitting video files.
I did not unlink the video and audio. The clips are fine, this is an issue with powerdirector.
