I just had the exact same problem. Very irritating.
But it seems there is a simple solution.

Right click on the sound track and click 'Use automatic beat detection.'
This will bring up a new window which initially will be blank and might say something like 'analyzing waveform for display.' If it's a long track, you'll have to wait a few minutes, but eventually a waveform will appear.
Click 'apply' and it should appear on your timeline soundtrack.
Not sure if it makes sense but it seems to solve the problem. Perhaps a Cyberlinke person can chime in. (Hint: there's a tip jar on my desk)
I'm getting a "runtime error" when I try to open Power Director 6 (which I upgraded online from version 5). The solution, apparently, is to reinstall the software, but it seems the software has a 1-year download limit.
Any alternative solutions?[b]
