Since I hadn't tried using the volume slider under the video display window, I took a look at that. It also was very low upon opening my project. So I raised to the top, and saved the project. But when I re-opened it, alas, it was back down to the bottom, and the Windows mixer slider was right back at 5.

There must be a setting somewhere to control this, or is the initial volume hard wired at 5?

Jim

PS I've given up trying to use the edit audio (Wave Editor) feature; it takes forever to open.
Every time I launch PowerDirector 10, the volume is very low. I have to open the Windows 7 mixer, and raise the volume from 5 to something acceptable. Anyone know how to keep that level raised?

Thanks,

Jim
Thanks for the suggestions. Using the + and - definitely saves time in zooming in and out rather than sliding the timeline left and right. I am able to get it in synch by dragging the audio (or video) clip. It would be nice if the arrow keys worked.

Jim
Anyone have any suggestions for the best way to adjust audio to match video when the capture process has created an -out-of-synch clip? I have separated the audio from the video. Then my intuition was to select the audio, and use the left-right arrow keys to adjust it in small increments, but that seems to have no effect. Obviously I can slide it with the mouse, but that seems heavy handed. Any ideas for fine tuning the audio left and right?

Thanks,

Jim
Thanks Wnuk and Tony,

Of those two workarounds, I think I'll go with dragging the clips from tracks 2 and 3 up into track 1. That means moving a few hundred clips, but at least that involves moving only 2/3 of the clips vs. adjusting every one to overlap.

Tony, there are instances where I won't use a transition (camera angle changes with no gap in time). Where there is any time gap between the clips, I want to transition with a cross fade. If a fade could be attached half on and half off of the end or beginning of a clip, I wouldn't need to move anything.

Jim
Not exactly. Let's say clip 1 on track 1 ends at the 1 minute mark. The first clip 2 on track 2 goes from the 1 minute mark to the 2 minute mark. (The reason my clips are on multiple tracks is because they came from video from 3 different cameras of the same event. They've been split and cropped into the elements I want from each one to create one continuous video.) Now, I want a regular cross fade between these two clips, but PD won't let you drag a transition to any place (end of clip 1 or beginning of clip 2) that accomplishes this.
I have video on three tracks. A clip on track 1 ends as another clip on track 2 begins. How do I add a cross fade transition between the two clips on the two tracks? It will only allow me to place a transition inside the end of the first clip, or inside the start of the second clip. It won't let me place it half on and half off the end of the first clip.

Do I have to move all my clips to a single track? I suppose I could shift all my clips so they slightly overlap, but that would be a lot of added work, and difficult to line up properly.

Thanks,

Jim
Neil,

Thanks for your reply. I should have specified, the clip I am double-clicking on is already in the timeline. It's definitely some sort of error in the program.

Jim
When I select a video clip in PowerDirector 10 and select Modify Audio, I believe WaveEditor is supposed to open to allow me to edit the audio. Instead, a dialog box opens that says Extract Audio, and below it shows the path of the .wav audio file with a space that looks like it should contain a bar growing from left to right as the audio is extracted. However, nothing happens. There is a button that says Cancel that allows me to do so.

Wave Editor is installed and operates independently.
Thank you, Phil. That's a good workaround. I'd prefer to be able to type in x seconds, but this will do for now.
Ok. So do we know if anyone is working on a fix, or are we just supposed to be content with this?
Once I've inserted a transition effect (cross, fade, etc.), the program won't let me modify (set the duration). Right-clicking it brings up a menu list of choices that are almost all grayed out, including set duration. Is this a bug? Is there any way to do this?

Thank you
