Quote: The only other issues have been PowerDVD updates - if you don't have the latest update, you might have problems playing back some of the newer DVD's.

Er, no.

I've had nothing but problems when using the latest patches that my software has insisted that I DL from the Cyberlink site.

Let me clarify that: nothing but problems when using the latest patches

The patches BROKE my system, stopped PowerDVD from working and totally screwed up half of my weekend. And had you actually read and comprehended the content of this thread, you might have gleaned that most of the others participating in this thread were seeing similar issues, where the software stopped working subsequent to their installation of the patch.

Forget any "You need a firmware update" messages. One, you won't find one that you can use, and two, they've already solved the problem via a software update anyway.

Er, wrong again. it's the software update that actually caused the problem. That's made clear in the posts in this thread .... but no, you didn't seem to find it necessary to read them, did you? You're better than that, right?

A bit of friendly advice, if I may: if I were you, I'd probably run and hide: Thanksgiving's jus a couple of weeks away, and I believe that turkey is on the menu.

Quote: You need at least 2gb of RAM for either XP or Vista, and you shouldn't have any other programs running and as few background processes running as possible - turn off any utilities (A/V programs, Spycatcher, Malware programs, etc), applications or anything else that's eating RAM.

ROTFLMAO!

You're seriously suggesting that this person use either XP or Vista, and be connected to the internet (a compulsory requirement of PowereDVD so that it can impose its faulty patches onto your system and then fail to load your disks' media) but to do this without the protection of AV and other malware programs?

And are you also offering to come around and fix their crapped out systems when the inevitable happens?

You should write comedy. Your technological advice sure sucks.
Quote: hey,

ive reinstalled everything and the patch and got passed this problem but now it loads to the menu stage of the dvd but cant play it.

Well, the latest id that the disrespectful turkeys at Cyberlink have changed the file that yo get when you download. No notification of the change, no advice, no apology .... nothing!

As I said, a bunch of unprofessional, disrespectful turkeys. How in the world do they get to hold a job?

The upshot is that the download now - finally - works, probably despite, rather than due to the Cyberlink Turkey farm.

Sheesh: if I treated my customer base the way these nongs handle their's, I'd be out of business before you could say "what a load of rubbish DRM is!"

17 hours - 17 lousy hours - to get to watch a movie.

That's disgusting. Bloody disgusting.

SHAME, Cyberlink, SHAME ON YOU.

And FTR, still not a peep from this disgusting bunch of unprofessional reprobates.

SHAME ON YOU!

Quote: i dont understand i thought you recieved the blu-ray software with the drive?

Exactly.

There is something very seriously wrong with the system when you legitimately buy a disk, but the system prevents you from enjoying your purchase.

This sucks bg time, and Cyberlink's failure to respond promptly is not in any way helpful.

Quote: You say the link was in English? Perhaps they have fixed tha? I tried it several times, and from two different systems, but with no luck at all.

Nope.

Still Chinese.

Still broken.

Still as useful as a bicycle is to a fish!

And I'm still mad as ....

Quote: have you got round this problem?

Ossie,

No. And not a peep from Cyberlink so-called support.

Disappointing in the extreme.

Jenny,

You say the link was in English? Perhaps they have fixed tha? I tried it several times, and from two different systems, but with no luck at all.

And I am less than impressed.

All I wanted to do was watch a new Bluray disk - Shine a Light. All I got was frustrated by the rubbish uopgrades that simply failed to work.

I have a LG GGW H20L running under Vista Ultimate.

PowerDVD - whatever the system came with - insisted upon upgrading itself to 7.3. That throws an error - 00002711, unable to load UI_RES.DLL.

Great upgrade that one is.

Uninstall everything, go back to square 1. reinstall the distribution disk; it wants to (again) upgrade itself. Being the nice guy that I am, I comply.

What a waste of time.

On the forums here I see that there's a different upgrade mentioned, with a link. http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/download/patches_112_en_US.html

Ok, I'll play.

Load the disk, guess what? It wants an upgrade. This time from cyberlink.com/BDUpgrade. There's a great site: it's Japanese.

Maybe it's Chinese.

Perhaps it's Korean.

It's certainly not English, and it's certainly not a site from which I can download and install anything.

So ... I'm pissed.

I'm frustrated.

My night has been totally spoiled, becaue of the failed, because of the faulty upgrades provided by Cyberlink.

Anyone got any clues? I'll be willing to bet that Cyberlink won't have any in the short term.
