I've included a series of screen shots to show exactly what I did. No matter how I paste the sound clip into the gap, another unwanted gap appears. I noticed that I could paste with keyframe attributes, but I don't know what that means, so I didn't use it. Norman
I've discovered audio director and its worked ok thanks to all.

If I understand correctly, you have a portion of the soundtrack without voice in it but that's not long enough to cover the portion of the video that does have the voice?
If that's the case, you could copy and paste the non-vocal portion until you have enough, in effect looping the portion without the voice over the original video. And also you can use a transition between the copies to smooth out the audio loop (the "Audio - For Music" transition).
There's a vocal remover feature in PowerDirector and a more adjustable one in AudioDirector, but it's meant for music and would likely not work for removing vocals and keeping background noise.

I want to cut a voice out of a section of soundtrack. I want to keep the background noise in if possible. I have a section of track without the voice, but when I copied and pasted it in to the deleted soundtrack with the voice in, a big gap was left. Is copy and paste the only option, or is there some magic I can use? Can I remove the voice on the original section of track using more magic?

The volume meter is working away as I play the clip.
There was an audio track on the original clips, which was unwanted (too much chatting and railway sounds). I unlinked all those audio lines. Could that be why I can't re-link the audio, and if that's the case, how do I proceed?
Thanks in anticipation.
Aaaargh! The volume in the preview window was right down- working now. Silly mistake, and I'm sorry for troubling you. No doubt you'll be hearing from me again on another matter (blind 72 year olds shouldn't be let loose on tech!)

Hi,
I'm not sure what's going on.
For completness can you give the exact version of PDR?
https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/97579.page#post_box_392512
Both your PDR and Win 11 speaker icons show as live, if you go to View>Show Timeline Preview Volume Meter and select it does the volume meter show any activity when the audio clip is played?

Hi,
Do you mean no sound when played from the timeline, or no sound when produced?
If it is the timeline, check the track is enabled and check the clip is not muted. A screenshot of your timelines would be useful.
If it is after production, then details of your production profile would help, as would some analysis of the produced file - use MediaInfo online or similar and post the output as an attachement.

No sound on the timeline. The link/unlink audio is greyed out on ther film clip.

Attached is the screenshot. I tried the clip in the sound app, and it plays. It's a Power director clip. I couldn't find anywhere to enable it, and the link/unlink audio on the film clip is greyed out.
Sorry for the delay- first time back at my PC!

You need to change the duration of the title by highlighting it on the timeline. Click the Duration button above the timeline and change it from the default time of say 10 seconds to say 20 seconds to slow it down by half, etc. Click the okay button. Repeat this until you get it right.
I actually found if I clicked on it, and used the opposing arrows, I could drag out the length of the title clip, and that slowed it down.

Next question.....
I've placed a downloaded soundtrack onto the timelinbe. The track is there, but there's no sound when I playback the film. I.ve checked it in Sound director, and it plays there, but not on the timeline. Cheers, Norman

How do you slow down the rate at which the graphics are displayed when using the Perspective Scroll? The default speed is just a little too fast for me. Cheers, Norman

Thanks- I played around with Audio Ducking and I'm pleased with the results. Thank you for your help. Norman

Newer versions of PD have a feature called Audio Ducking, which would automatically reduce the volume of a music clip when there's activity on the narration track.
If your version doesn't have that, you'll need to use keyframes on the volume to mark the start and end of the full volume sections on the music clip. Then add two matching keyframes in between to set the lower volume level.
Here's a screenshot of the timeline and the Keyframe tool:

I have two sound tracks om my production- a voice over and a misic track. I want to lower the music track volume and also fade out and in as I'm speaking. How do I do that please? Norman

A better question is what is your current screen resolution that isn't letting the App Manager run? You can also try these steps to uninstall it, clear out the old files and then reinstall it.
My screen res is 150%, due to the fact I'm partially sighted. I tried the recomendations of uninstall/installing it, but it still had the dialogue box telling mer it wouldn;t work, so I reduced it to 100%, and it worked. Strangely, however, when I put my resolution back up to 150%, it's still working.

Application mamanger has just downloaded to an updated version, but it will now not open. I'm getting a message that it won't work with my current screen resolution, although it worked before the download. What screen resolution do I need to get it to work? Windows 10

I'm sorry- I was a little premature in my praise. I still have no solution. When I press Ctrl+a, I expected the whole timeline to highlight blue (assuming the a means all), and then right clicking on would allow me to normalise the audio. That does'nt happen. Instead, all the files in the library highlight, and no amount of right clicking does anything. I've also assumes that ctrl+a means control, then a.
Looking in help, it mentions the equaliser, but that's greyed out.
Cheers, Norman

I tried Ctrl +a, and it highlighted all the clips in the library. However, when I right clicked, nothing happened.

I've now finished editing my movie, which is made up of lots of clips. However, there were 3 sound sources, and they are at different volumes from one another. Is there a global method of getting them all to the same volume, or do they have to be adjusted seperately ( and how). Power director 18.

How do I download the mega music pack? I've been diverted to application Manager, which I have duly installed, but I can't find how to use it to get the tracks. vice versa, on the page where the 60 tracks are, it only prompts me to downlaod the application manager. Therefore, I'm now going round in circles!
