Hi Dafydd, here is another test that you require and this is part 1:
PART H
DVD write tests for PD - to assess displayed error issues.
Test 1.
Soo, I put the nature mpeg onto the timeline 3 times and then Create Disc and accepted all default settings and Burnt to 'Folder'
The result was 'Burning Successful" !!
Not bad for a monday morning
I will now carry out part 2 of the test involving DVD.

Good Morning...attached is a screenshot of my 'Create Disc' workspace when creating my 8 movies with menu template to either burn to disc or folder.

Here is my PC Diag as requested and yes I know some of the drivers are older but Intel and Gigabyte don't seem to have any newer ones than what I've got.
Will do the rest in the morning Dafydd.

Hi Dafydd, Just a quick update for you before I shut down for the night here.
I have kept patch 2930 in place on PD9 and have managed to burn 2 projects to folder (both projects with 8 movies per piece on them and a structured menu template from 'Create Disc') and there was no hitch and no Errors whatsoever. Just burnt like a dream. So from there, burning to DVD from the VOB folder to the DVD with Power2Go poses no problems (for me)
Soo, is there anything else you want me to trial with this or is this burn to folder a good compromise for the PD9 forums ? (certainly with me it's a wonderful compromise)
Enjoy your day,
Stephanie.

Okay, I reinstalled patch 2930 and everything looks okay and it's reading the right build in the top right corner and the 'Remove and Leave a Gap is on the time line options (mind the gap) but I tried burning to folder those 7 movies with menu template and it came up with 2 Burn Errors e8007000 despite the fact I have 773 Gigs spare space !
It was applying the 2930 patch last week that started all this burn error with my PD9 so I gave it one last chance to burn without problems and it did actually Burn successful to folder 3rd time and I didn't waste 2 DVD's this time so I really do prefer the burn to folder method. ( i think half the problem with me with the burn to disc is the fact you go thru soo many dvd's that cost good money)
Soo, i'm thinking that if PD9 continues to give alot of Burn Errors to folder I 'may' consider removing the patch 2930 as it was fine on the 2702 build.
Do you still want me to give you a dxdiag Dafydd ?
Stephanie.

I have been proactive this afternoon and have found a solution that works for me on another PD9 Thread by BarryTheCrab and NicholasNY.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14407.page#68842
This 'Might' work with anyone else with a Burn Error with PD...So you might like to try ?
They suggested Burning to folder at the Final Output Window and then burning to DVD disc from that folder.
I never knew you could burn to folder ! Goodness Me !
Soo, I imported the PDS File 7 movies in one with menu template and went to Final Output and 'Unchecked' Burn to Disc and then Checked 'Create a Folder' and Pointed the Output to the folder and Click Burn. (be careful there are no important files in that folder as they will be wiped so i created a fresh folder on the desktop)
When the Burn has completed you can check your folder if you like and it will contain the Audio and Video folders info needed to Create a DVD.
Soo, I used Cyberlink's Power2Go and Burnt the 7 movies to DVD WITHOUT any Burn Errors and it plays perfectly on the telly.
Plus, the cool thing is you now have a folder of the movie/s data that you can use over and over to burn.
This is one cool compromise and I recommend it to anyone with Burn Error problems.
Of course the question is now, 'Do I reinstall patch 2930 ?
Will PD9 crash with it ?
I guess I ought to reinstall patch 2930 and note what happens ..
Stephanie.

Nicholas and Barry, you are Both Diamonds suggesting Burn to Folder and then to Disc !
This has solved my BurnError problem and I like the method too !!
Many Thanks
Stephanie.

okay, i just tried to burn 6 short movies @ 1.3 Gigs onto a 4.7 DVD with a menu template supplied with PD9 and I'm afraid that it gave a burn error yet again @ 24 % but this time it was Burn Error e8007000E and stated 'Not enough storage space is available to complete this operation"
And that's 'WITHOUT me installing patch 2930.
Soo I'm left with a program I can't fully use.
To say I'm upset is an understatement
What else can I do with PD9 to sort this ?....
because I am fresh out of ideas.

WHOA ! A cuppa tea solves everything ? well, partly..
Applied patch 2702 and that solved the PD9 crash when clicking User Preference button and then I opened PD9, Opened just ONE completed pds project onto the timeline and went to Create Disc and chose 'NO MENU' and put the burn speed to 4X (as in last tests) and clicked Burn.
And after a gruelling couple of minutes it came up 'Burn Successful' ! Goodness, I now need yet another cuppa for the stress factor !
Soo anyways, it was a 13 minute video so I guess that discounts my DVD drive and PC ? Perhaps it has something to do with the chapter menu I am using ? Is there a specific way of creating a real nice menu with movie thumbnails ?
Soo, what do I do now ? And do I need / apply this patch 2930 or shall I wait until I've got this PD9 running sweet ? (hopefully) And moreso, do I 'need' patch 2930 as I didn't have any issues before I applied 2930 last week..
Perhaps my next move this morning is to see if it will burn 7 movies to disc ..But I'm not sure I can take any more stress today !...I'll have another cuppa first !

update, just uninstalled (with clcleaner) and reinstalled pd9 and contents pack WITHOUT the 2702 or 2930 patches and tried burning the same 7 movies to DVD and the PD9 gave the same Burn Error @ 70% so I guess I can safely rule out the patches as the cause here ?
And before I uninstalled I backed up some cyberlink data to DVD with ashampoo burning studio and it Burned like a dream ! And Power2Go burns like a dream to on this pc.
And so dows Sony Vegas platinum 10 and so does my Trakaxpc pro.
And now I have the added problem of not being able to click user preferences at the top of PD9 without it crashing.
I really do need a cup of tea, this has become soo stressful for me.

Bedtime report.
Changed the actual PD9 burn speed from 22 to 4X and tried to burn the usual 7 movies = 1.3 Gigs a menu structure etc to DVD and once again Burn Error.
Soo, i've gone through maybe 6 new DVD's today.
One thing that did happen today and that was when I clicked the green Magic Music icon in PD9 it said there were 18 updates so I just clicked yes but the 18 updates became 127Mbs ! yikes...
Soo although they all installed okay I'm wondering if that is why I'm getting a burn error or maybe my patch 2930 or maybe both.
If there's nothing here in the morning I will uninstall PD9 and reinstall.

Late evening report .
Have discounted my computer and the new DVD's as the culprits to the Burn problem.
Have burnt 8 movies to DVDs with 2 different software just now and all is sweet.
Soo, back to PD9.
Will uninstall it in the morning.

Okay, I've had soo many Burn Errors today such as eEB130581 and once I had eEB130883 that I could just cry with pure frustration.
I have taken the burn error advice on these forums and changed my DVD burn speed and cleared caches and everything
but I am now in a situation where PD9 will not burn a single disc due to this Error and I've had enough.
And I'm burning 3.2 Gigs of movies first up then tried 2 and then tried 800mbs ? and STILL get this burn error ?
I've been sweet on PD9 for a while now but all of a sudden the proverbial hits the fan with this patch.
I guess I will have to Totally uninstall everything, once again, and also brush off the cobwebs on my Sony Vegas 10.
Will return in due course with report.
Stephanie.

Hi there and thanks for the heads up about 2930 not installing correctly.
Soo, before I go ahead and reinstall pd9 I thought I would just try a little experiment.
Soo, whereas I was burning 7 short movies to DVD (3.something gigs) I tried taking 2 movies off the compilation and just burnt 5 movies to the DVD and it burnt and it played sweet on both the computer and the DVD player.
So what does this suggest ?
That I can only burn a maximum of 5 movies regadless of size ?
Or somehow the menu section of the DVD was/is stuffed up (hence the dvd locking up when clicking a movie) ?
Or maybe some Menu templates can only have 5 movies on them ?
I've looked around and everything seems to be working fine elsewhere with PD9 and it says Build 2930 on it.
Feedback ?
Kindest regards,
Stephanie.

Okay, I've been burning movies to DVD with PD9 using the Create Disc facility and have had no issues 'UNTIL' I installed patch 2930 this week.
Soo, everything burns to DVD okay although PD9 seems very lumbery and sluggish when changing menu pages etc. Anyway, the DVD will not play properly on our DVD player and when you select a movie on the disc it just freezes and then it crashes the DVD player. DVD's that i burnt PRIOR to the update play perfectly on our dvd player and they have a menu structure etc too.
But the movies play okay on the computer 'EXCEPT for one and that crashed the media player when play was clicked just like the telly one.
Soo, as everything was fine BEFORE I installed the patch 2930 something tells me I should uninstall PD9 and exclude the 2930 patch when I reinstall ?.. Unless someone here has a similar problem ?
This is soo annoying when things were running smoothly prior to the pd9 upgrade.
Anyone's thoughts on the matter ?
Regards,
Stephanie.
