Our OP writer wanted to get his/her file size down to such that he/she could get it on to a DVD(initially wanted it on single layer) but his/her final file size is still to large, even for Dual-Layer, and even Smart-Fit would be hard-put to shoe-horn an 8.7Gb file into 8.5 Gb. A third render may bring the file size down some more but image quality may suffer. Rata27, if you're prepared to risk that third render, you may squeeze your video onto a dual-layer disc, but again, you'll be possibly sacrificing image quality.
NO NO NO! Horrible advice. You can render and re-render till the end of time, it has ZERO affect here. You can render it down to 10kb if you want but the time of the video is still 2 hours and 20 minutes, THAT's the issue. Smartfit the video onto a disc of choice and see if it plays, and if so is the quality is acceptable. Buy rewritable DVD, DVD-DL and BlueRay media for testing, dirt cheap. And .2GB is not really "shoehorning" anything. It's EXACTLY what Smartfit is designed for.
If it's bad advice, Barry, it's only learned from reading other posts on the same or similar subjects, no more, no less.

I want to spreead some more information about my steps:
- the video output from the cam is MPEG-2 704*577 at 25 FPS PAL, bitrate = 9.338 kb/s 16:9.
- my PD product is 29.9 FPS - I dont know is this effects on the size.
- burn the project to 4.7 DVD it gain the size to 11GB. using smartfit will make a 7GB DVD
- when try to produce it to MPEG-2 DVD type - the only available size are 720*480 - this make the file to be 8.7 GB
- 5. I have tried to produce the video at PD15 to mp4 - the video quality is great and it size is 3.3GB. then I burn it to a DVD with third render, the size is overload for 4.7GB DVD, so I choose fit to 4.7 DVD. Finally the video quality decreases (no so bad) - but and big BUT - the video is not smooth
 this solution not work fine!
- I must to burn the video on 4.7GB DVD - need to make 30 copies of the video.
any more ideas ???

I try to burn it to standrd 4.7DVD (not double-layer DVD) - it seam to be not easy as 1 2 3.
Is there any differnt way or format I can decode it for DVD format ?

There are other methods that you can use to put it all on one dvd. Are the aspect ratio of those original files 4:3 or 16:9?

What are the resolutions of the mpeg files you recorded? You may be rendering them incorrectly or with settings you do not need.
It has be fit within that amount of storage space. Unless you get it around 8gb and use a DVD+DL if whatever you're playing the DVD on supports those dvd types.

This is the very reason I've retained Power Director 8 Ultra! A 2 Hr., 20 min video CAN be made to fit a 4.7 Gb DVD but first it must be rendered to MPEG2, DVD-SP, and this is where the older version of PD comes into its own. PD8 Ultra can render files and burn DVDs at DVD-SP grade, picture quality won't please the purists but at least a DVD+R or -R disc will play on many domestic players.(it should be noted that not all domestic players will accept DVD-R or +R DL discs, compatibility IS a consideration here) This is PD14s, and likely also PD15s fall-down point, they'll only burn at DVD-SP if the image is 4:3 aspect ratio. This was a disappointment to me when I saw it in PD14. and I was glad to see I didn't have to uninstall PD8 as the older version still had its uses, and burning long videos to 4.7Gb discs is certainly one of those uses!
So..... this means it a DEAD END ???
I dont have earlier PD version
I have worked and edit this video for more then 6 hours.....
there must be any solution for this issue...
