Thank you for passing that along to me including the tip about copying the downloaded files before they are no longer available! This is all great information and I really appreciate you sharing it with me.
Thank you so much for your feedback! It is very helpful!
P.S. I am planning on buying PowerDirector 14 "Deluxe." I don't think I need the more expensive versions.
Thank you so much for replying! I really appreciate it!

Also, I am a tech writer and have used camtasia. Is PowerDirector going to be much of a hassle to use. Im getting worried after seeing all of these posts in this forum.
Which type of format do I need to have my videos in before I can drag and drop them into the timeline in PowerDirector 14 Deluxe?

I have just copied my DVDs that contain my home movies onto my computer, and they have transferred over as .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files. From what I have read, the .VOB is the file that contains all the necessary information.

Do I have to convert these .VOB files to MPEG-4 with another application before using them with PowerDirecor 14 Deluxe, and if so, what can/should I use to do this?

Thank you so much for any help you can provide!
