In Fireworks, create or scale the image to 1920x1280, then export as a 32-bit png (as opposed to Save As a Fireworks png) or other 32-bit image format - TIF, TGA, etc... Or 24-bit if not using the alpha channel.

I suspect that FW will do a better job scaling the image down than Power Director.

I am an absolute newbie with Cyberlink, so I could easily be wrong about that.
